Hilton Head Island is steeped in golf history and renowned the world over for its spectacular ocean-side courses. Work on your golf game and benefit from small-group instruction during morning sessions with a PGA professional who is an expert teacher. Then in the afternoon enjoy the opportunity to play some of Hilton Head’s finest courses, honing your skills and having fun with your fellow Road Scholar golfers.

Travel Details
  Start of Program:
Check in at the Omni Oceanfront Resort between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Ask front desk for Road Scholar registration room assignment. The evening meal and orientation will follow. You will be staying at Omni Oceanfront Resort that night.
  End of Program:
Program ends around 10 a.m. Check out from the resort by 11 a.m. You will be staying at Omni Oceanfront Resort the night before.
  Required documents:
The Road Scholar Health & Safety Form is required. The only required document is a photo ID such as a driver's license.
  Parking availability:
Parking information will be included in the confirmation packet. The resort will shuttle participants to/from the housing facility to the golf center.

Driving Directions
  From Interstate 95 Driving Direction from North or South take I-95 to Exit #8. Take Hwy 278 East for 25 miles towards Hilton Head Island. After crossing the Island bridge, continue on Business 278 to Palmetto Dunes, which is located on the left hand side 8 miles from the Island bridge. Make a left hand turn at traffic light into Palmetto Dunes, and after one mile you will arrive at a guard gate. State that you are a guest of the Omni Oceanfront Resort and obtain a pass and continue. The Resort is located on the left side. No motorcycles permitted.
Elevation Note: Hilton Head is just above sea level.

Equipment Requirements: Golf clubs, golf balls, golf tees and any comfort items such as hats, bug spray, sunscreen, etc. you consider necessary.

Daily Schedule

Day 1: Arrival
(Sunday, November 10)
   
 Afternoon: Arrive at Omni Oceanfront Resort for registration and room assignment between the hours of 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Ask the friendly front desk staff or check with concierge service and stop by the announcement postings for Road Scholar registration room assignments. Program packets will be issued at this time. Further instructions will be given during program registration.
 Dinner: A plated dinner will be served in our private conference area of the resort at 6:00 p.m. followed by an introduction to Hilton Head and orientation.

Day 2: Golf Instruction/18-Holes of Golf/Overview of Hilton Head History
(Monday, November 11)
   
 Breakfast: Continental breakfast will be served at the Golf Clubhouse restaurant within the Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort.
 Morning: Group will meet at Palmetto Dunes Golf Course for group instruction with opportunities for individual instruction. Putting Chipping, Pitching and Fullswing will be covered. These fundamentals are important to players of all skill levels. The Instructors have over 50 years of PGA Certified experience of teaching groups with mixed skill levels and all students will improve. Receive the ultimate golf experience when you tee off at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. Exceptional golf results from taking a beautiful natural setting on a coastal sea island, engaging three legendary golf architects to create challenging masterpieces, and infusing the entire golf program with a lasting commitment to quality and customer service.
 Lunch: Enjoy a light lunch back at the clubhouse.
 Afternoon: Group will play 18 holes of golf as part of the program. Golf cart will be provided.
 Dinner: A plated dinner will be served in our private conference area of the Omni Resort.
 Evening: Learn about Hilton Head Island through a timeline overview of the area. Hilton Head Island’s history can be traced back to Native American occupation 4,000 years ago. Learn about the island’s past including the Plantation Era, Civil War and the modern development into a world-class resort destination and home to 30,000 full time residents.

Day 3: Golf Instruction/18-Holes of Golf
(Tuesday, November 12)
   
 Breakfast: Continental breakfast will be served at the Golf Clubhouse restaurant within the Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort.
 Morning: Group will meet at Palmetto Dunes Golf Course for more group instruction on putting, chipping, pitching, sand and fullswing. The instructor will build on the progress of the individual student. Some students will progress faster than others. This is ok and normal. The teacher will keep pace with the unique needs of the individual.
 Lunch: Take a break back at the clubhouse for a light lunch.
 Afternoon: Group will play 18 holes of golf as part of the program. Golf cart will be provided.
 Dinner: Enjoy a delicious plated dinner served in our private conference room of the Omni Resort.
 Evening: The Loggerhead Sea Turtle uses Hilton Head Island’s beaches each summer for nesting. Come hear more about this threatened species and the ways that Hilton Head Island – and you – can help them survive. Presented by the Coastal Discovery Museum, manager of the Town of Hilton Head Island Sea Turtle Protection Project.

Day 4: Golf Instruction/Free afternoon
(Wednesday, November 13)
   
 Breakfast: Continental breakfast will be served at the Golf Clubhouse restaurant within the Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort.
 Morning: Stretching, exercises and the mental part of the game will be covered. Review and build on putting, chipping, pitching, full-swing. Begin with "Trouble Shots" - side hill lies, trajectory control, out of the bushes, long sand shots, off hard pan and cart paths, over the water. Learn how to use a yardage book.
 Lunch: Relax back at the clubhouse while enjoying a light lunch and finalizing plans for the rest of your day!
 Afternoon: Free time for exploring on your own for the many exciting adventures Hilton Head Island has to offer.
 Dinner: Wednesday evening is free to give participants a chance to visit Hilton Head Island's many great attractions and enjoy the local cuisine. Dinner on your own.
 Evening: The evening will be free to enjoy the entertainment possibilities Hilton Head has to offer.

Day 5: Golf Instruction/18-Holes of Golf/Loggerhead Sea Turtle Presentation
(Thursday, November 14)
   
 Breakfast: Continental breakfast will be served at the Golf Clubhouse restaurant within the Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort.
 Morning: Stretching, exercises and the mental part of the game will be reviewed. Build more on putting, chipping, pitching and full-swing. Continue with "Trouble Shots" - side hill lies, trajectory control, out of the bushes, long sand shots, off hard pan and cart paths, over the water. Use your yardage book. .
 Lunch: Enjoy one last light lunch back at the clubhouse.
 Afternoon: Group will play 18 holes of golf as part of the program. Golf cart will be included.
 Dinner: A plated dinner will be served in the resorts banquet rooms.
 Evening: An Entertaining Evening shall be had by all!

Day 6: Program Wrap Up
(Friday, November 15)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast will be served at the Omni Resort prior to our week in review.
 Morning: Share the week in review with a question & answer session lead by our lead instructor. The program concludes with this wrap-up session. Check-out from the resort is at 11 a.m. Say good bye to your new friends! Individual departures will follow. Lunch is not included in this program.
