Breathe, balance, energize. We’ve take our popular program for women and decided to invite the men, too, in a restorative retreat in a redwood forest minutes from the Pacific Ocean in Northern California. Enjoy expert-led illumination in sessions that renew spirit, enliven energy and bring inner peace. Learn how to move Qi, or vital energy, smoothly through your body. Upon returning home, you will know this is exactly what you needed.

Santa Cruz

On the north side of Monterey Bay, 74 miles south of San Francisco, Santa Cruz is a peaceful, beachside community with an offbeat spirit, a penchant for the eccentric, and a colorful boardwalk that is one of the last of its kind on the West Coast.

Breige Walbridge

Breige Gormley Walbridge has been the Road Scholar program coordinator and group leader at Land of Medicine Buddha since 1999. During this time, she has organized and hosted approximately 200 programs. Breige is known for her warmth, hospitality and organizational skills.
 
Ingrid Mednis

Ingrid Mednis has taught numerous classes in herbology and frequently leads nature walks. She has been a docent at the University of California, Santa Cruz organic farm project for about 15 years and currently works in Henry Cowell State Park.
 
Venerable Drimay

Venerable Losang Drimay leads regular meditations, retreats, classes, including Road Scholar programs, at Land of Medicine Buddha in Soquel, Calif. A California native, Ven. Losang has been studying and practicing with centers in the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) since 1984, receiving hundreds of hours of classroom instruction from the many qualified lamas and senior teachers that frequent the Dharma centers. Following her ordination as a Buddhist nun in 1991, Ven. Losang spent a year in India, studying Dharamsala. Upon her return to the U.S., she began working at the Vajrapani Institute in Boulder Creek, and later lived at Land of Calm Abiding, an isolated retreat center, carrying out some of the meditation assignments given to her by Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche. She also served as a resident teacher at the Ocean of Compassion Buddhist Center in Campbell. Ven. Losang holds a B.A. in Asian studies and has traveled extensively in Asia.

.Arrival/check in between 4 and 5pm in the Reception area. Dinner at 6:00pm followed by Evening Orientation at 7:00 pm. You will be staying at Land of Medicine Buddha that night.

Check out time is 11:00am. Program ends after lunch 12:30-1:30 pm. You will be staying at Land of Medicine Buddha the night before.

Day 1: Check-in and Orientation

 Arrive To: Arrival/check in is in the Reception office at Land of Medicine Buddha between 4 and 5 PM. Snack: 4:00-5:15 PM
 Dinner: Enjoy a delicious, mainly organic, vegetarian dinner in the dining room at 6 p.m.
 Evening: Orientation at 7:00PM.

Day 2: Qigong movement class for energy and flexibility. Meditation class. Nature Walk. Lecture and demonstration on energy massage.
(Monday, October 28)
   
 Breakfast: Enjoy a delicious, mainly organic, vegetarian breakfast.
 Morning: Experience a Qigong movement class and learn about energy and flexibility. Qigong and self-acupressure will move Qi, or vital energy, smoothly through your meridians and bring you to a state of relaxation with gentle physical movements and mindful breathing. After a break, learn meditation techniques, with mindfulness meditations and visualization, for deep inner peace and relaxation.
 Lunch: Enjoy a delicious, mainly organic, vegetarian lunch.
 Afternoon: Take an expert-led nature walk in a majestic redwood forest, learning about redwood ecology, wild herbs and birds. After some free time, enjoy a snack in the dining room, then take in a lecture and demonstration on healing energy massage.
 Dinner: Enjoy a delicious, mainly organic, vegetarian dinner.
 Evening: Documentary film, movie, entertainment, or lecture.

Day 3: Movement and meditation class in the morning, after lunch enjoy free time to explore or relax. Lecture on healing energy massagego on a nature walk. Lecture and demonstration on energy massage.

 Morning: Continue to learn about Qigong movement and its association with energy and flexibility. Qigong and self-acupressure will move Qi, or vital energy, smoothly through your meridians and bring you to a state of relaxation with gentle physical movements and mindful breathing. After a break, learn meditation techniques, with mindfulness meditations and visualization, for deep inner peace and relaxation.
 Lunch: Enjoy a delicious, mainly organic, vegetarian lunch.
 Afternoon: After some free time, enjoy a snack in the dining room, then take in a lecture and demonstration on healing energy massage.
 Dinner: Enjoy a delicious, mainly organic, vegetarian dinner.
 Evening: Documentary film, movie, entertainment, or lecture.
