Savor the offerings of the internationally famous Monterey Jazz Festival under the tutelage of musicians and teachers who provide an inside view of the American jazz scene. In its 56th year, “Monterey” is the granddaddy of American jazz festivals and features the finest of world class-performers.

Carmel Valley

Still charmingly rural, Carmel Valley today includes not only rustic ranches, but also modern wineries and art galleries. This inland region, most famously described in the writings of John Steinbeck, is neighbor to nearby Carmel and Monterey Bay.

Ali Ryerson
Ali Ryerson is consistently voted among the top jazz flutists in the Downbeat Jazz Poll, was a Jazz Flutist of the Year nominee by the Jazz Journalists Association, and has released 20 highly acclaimed jazz albums on major labels. Ali performs, records and teaches internationally, with performances ranging from the Monterey Jazz Festival to Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. She has worked with jazz greats such as Kenny Barron and Joe Beck, and classical artists such as Luciano Pavarotti.

  Description: Rich in legend and history, Los Laureles Lodge reflects the colorful influence of Spanish conquistadors, tribal Indians, and a flavorful mixture of bandits, cowboys and socialites. Los Laureles Lodge is Carmel Valley's original hotel and hunting lodge. The Pacific Improvement Company acquired the lodge in 1915. During the ownership of the Pacific Improvement Company, many visiting dignitaries from other countries as well as our country visited the Lodge. The guests of the Del Monte Hotel were transported by tallyho coaches when there was little or no sun along the coast.

Driving Directions
  Anywhere to Los Laureles Lodge Los Laureles Lodge is located approximately 10.5 miles east of Hwy 1 on the Carmel Valley Road (G-16) in Carmel Valley, California. Traveling east on G-16, the Lodge is located on the Left side just past Los Laureles Grade & Bernardus Lodge. Traveling on Hwy 101 heading north (from the south), take the Monterey Peninsula exit in Salinas (called Sanborn Road) and follow it west (Sanborn Rd. becomes Blanco Road) to Hwy 68. Turn left onto Hwy 68 (west) and follow it about 9 miles until you see a sign for Laureles Grade (G-20) to Carmel Valley. Turn left onto G-20 and follow it until it ends (6 miles) at Carmel Valley Road. Turn left again and follow it to Los Laureles Lodge (approx. 1 mile). Traveling on Hwy 101 heading south (from the north), Take the Monterey Peninsula/Hwy 156 exit and follow it west about 5 miles where it will automatically put you onto Hwy 1. Traveling on Hwy 1, simply come to the Carmel Valley Road (just south of Carmel) and once on the Carmel Valley Road, come out 11.2 miles.
