Nestled amid forested hills between the Delaware and Hudson rivers, let the rural charm and natural beauty inspire the artistic genius within. Through a combination of demonstrations, individual help, and instructor/peer critiques, develop the skills needed to transform vision into art. Learn about watercolors' many techniques as well as elements of composition, color, and line. With references to art history and contemporary painting, engage in a well-rounded watercolor experience.

Deborah Rubin

Deborah Rubin is an accomplished watercolor artist who has had many solo exhibitions at galleries throughout the country, including the R. Michelson Galleries in Northampton, Mass. and the Museum of Fine Arts in Springfield, Md. She has been involved in selected juried exhibitions from the New England Water Color Society in Gloucester, Mass., the National Academy of Design in New York City and the Milwaukee Are Museum. Deborah also has many permanent collections in galleries, schools and businesses across the East Coast. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, and did graduate study in painting at the University of Minnesota.

  FROM BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS Take Interstate 90 south to Interstate 84 south through Connecticut into New York. Proceed to Route 17 (Exit 4 E). Take 17 east to Exit 124 (Goshen, NY). Proceed on 17 A south through Florida, NY. Continue to take 94 south through the village of Warwick, NY to Pennings Lane. Turn left onto Pennings Lane to Hoyt Road. Turn left onto Hoyt Road watching for The Warwick Conference Center on your right.
  FROM CONNECTICUT Take Rt 84 West to Exit 4E, taking Route 17 East to Route 17A Florida/Goshen Exit 124. Take Route 17A until it merges with Rt 94 at the first traffic light in Florida. Drive THROUGH the Villages of Florida and Warwick. Stay on Rt 94 South until Pennings Lane. Turn Left onto Pennings Lane. Follow the signs to The Warwick Center.
  FROM NEW YORK THRUWAY/NORTH OR SOUTH Exit at Harriman - Exit 16. Take Rt 17 West to Exit 126 - Chester exit. Look for Route 94 South (or West). Take Rt 94 South toward Florida/Warwick. Continue on Rt 94 through the Villages of Florida and Warwick. Go approximately 2 1/2 miles beyond the Village of Warwick passing Shop Rite, Pennings Orchards and Warwick Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership, all on your left.   FROM SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY Take 287 North to Exit 52B for Rt. 23 North. Take Rt. 23 North to 515 North. Take 515 North to Vernon where 515 North becomes Rt 94 North. Take Rt 94 North to Pennings Lane. Turn right onto Pennings Lane. Follow signs to The Warwick Center.
  FROM WASHINGTON, D.C./PHILADELPHIA AREA Take the New Jersey Turnpike to the Garden State Parkway North to Route 17 North. Approximately 2 1/2 miles past Tuxedo Park you will come to a traffic light. Exit left at the traffic light - Junction 17A. At the stop sign at the top of the hill, make a left hand turn onto Rt 17A (Sterling Forest). Rt 17A will take you directly to Warwick. At the "T" intersection in Warwick, turn LEFT onto Route 94 West. Go approximately 2 1/2 miles passing Shop Rite, Pennings Orchards and Warwick Chrysler Jeep Dodge Dealership, all on the left. Daily Schedule

Day 1: Arrival, Registration, Program Orientation and Introductions.
(Sunday, July 7)
   
 Afternoon: Arrive at The Warwick Conference Center in late afternoon for check in beginning at 4:30 p.m. and continuing to 6:00 p.m. Enjoy a Wine and Cheese Reception and introduce yourself to fellow participants.
 Dinner: Dinner is in the East House Dining Hall. Enjoy a bountiful buffet with entries varying from turkey, pork, chicken, fish, etc. Dinner will include a fresh salad bar, vegetables, potatoes, rolls, and dessert. All meals at The Warwick Conference Center include a vegetarian option.
 Evening: Following dinner there will be a time of introductions and an orientation session to familiarize everyone with The Warwick Conference Center and the week's activities.

Day 2:
(Monday, July 8)
   
 Breakfast: Wake up to a hearty breakfast buffet. Daily entrees will rotate, but you can look forward to a variety of breakfast foods including scrambled eggs, pancakes, french toast, ham, bacon, oatmeal, toast, muffins, yogurt, cold cereal, and hot coffee, tea, and orange juice.
 Morning: The morning lecture by the artist will include a demonstration and hands-on experience with expert guidance and critiques.
 Lunch: Lunch will be served buffet style in the East House Dining Hall. Enjoy various menus which will include a fresh salad bar, wraps, soup, potato bar, sandwiches and other entrees.
 Afternoon: The afternoon is devoted to expert-led lectures in the instruction of watercolor painting including demonstrations and hands-on experiences.
 Dinner: Dinner served buffet style at 6:00 P.M. in the East House Dining Hall.
 Evening: The evening expert-led lecture will include hands-on experiences under the guidance of the artist.

Day 3: Enjoy a visit to Pacem in Terris, a six-acre sculpture garden dedicated to Peace, created by Dutch sculptor, painter, and author, Dr. Frederick Franck.
(Tuesday, July 9)

Note: Be prepared to walk on uneven ground for approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.



   
 Breakfast: Breakfast served buffet style in the East House Dining Hall.
 Morning: The morning lecture by the artist will include a demonstration and hands-on experience with expert guidance and critiques.
 Lunch: Lunch served buffet style in the East House Dining Hall.
 Afternoon: A visit will be made to Pacem in Terris, a six acre sculpture garden. Dr. Franck, a Dutch-born sculptor, painter and author created Pacem in Terris, a retreat dedicated to peace and art. The garden contains some 70 large-scale sculptures in steel, stone, wood and glass. Enjoy the sculpture garden and the grounds; for those who wish, there is an opportunity to sketch and paint.
 Dinner: Dinner served buffet style at 6:00 P.M. in the East House Dining Hall.
 Evening: The evening comprises an expert-led lecture on watercolor instruction and includes hands-on experiences.

(Wednesday, July 10)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast served buffet style in the East House Dining Hall.
 Morning: Expert-led lecture on watercolor instruction including a demonstration along with hands-on experiences under the guidance of the artist.
 Lunch: Lunch served buffet style in the East House Dining Hall.
 Afternoon: Free time to pursue private painting in the Watercolor Workshop.
 Afternoon: Free time to pursue independent work in the Watercolor Workshop.
 Dinner: Dinner will be served buffet style in the East House Dining Hall.
 Evening: Experience an expert-led lecture on watercolor painting, a demonstration, and hands-on experience.

Day 5: Enjoy an optional visit to The Warwick Conference Center Art Gallery
(Thursday, July 11)

 Lunch: Lunch will be served buffet style in the East House DIning Hall.
 Afternoon: Expert-led lecture and demonstration in watercolor instruction including hands-on experiences and constructive critiques.
 Dinner: Dinner will be served at 6:00 P.M. in the East House Dining Hall.
 Evening: Visit The Warwick Conference Center Art Gallery with comments and critiques by the Instructor.
