Experience life as the Roosevelts and other “rusticators” lived it during their summers on Campobello Island, across the bay from Eastport, Maine. Explore the places they loved, trace their footsteps, picnic at their favorite spot, meet offspring of people they knew, take a boat exploration, see picturesque lighthouses, and understand what brought the Roosevelts back year after year.
Highlights
• Learn about island life the way Franklin and Eleanor did — attending lectures and walking in the very places once occupied by Eleanor and Franklin. • Enjoy an island exploration to visit the Roosevelts’ favorite spots, visit the historic Library and Museum that Eleanor helped support, and enjoy a lobster feast. • Take a boat ride into Passamaquoddy Bay, see seals, porpoises and bald eagles — maybe even a whale.
Activity Particulars
Walking up to one-quarter mile on varied terrain; ramp to dock can be steep.
