Come join us for a week designed especially for lovers of music. Discover the best of musical worlds as we learn about and experience music from several musical genres, including Gospel, 50’s-60’s, big band, and lightly classical. The music will come alive through daily concerts and expert presentations amid the quiet but invigorating beauty of 250 acres of rolling hills, streams and a spring-fed lake.

• Experience off-campus concerts, lively musical performances and a visit to Turkeyville USA, Michigan’s famous dinner theater and turkey farm.
• Ride the "Michindoh Express” trolley on the sprawling, picturesque grounds to experience its Nature Center and the center’s friendly reptilian and amphibian inhabitants. Fishing and canoeing are available in season.

While enjoying our comfortable and modern facilities, just a door away is the natural beauty of wooded acres, walking trails, and wetlands. Our conference center offer Internet, exercise facilities and fellowship areas, all located in the same facility with our beautiful Atrium Dining room and cozy hotel accommodations.

  Chicago Go East on I80/90 to I-69. Go North on I-69 to Michigan. Continue North on I-69 to US 12, - 13 miles. Go East (R) on US 12 to State Rte 99, just before Jonesville - 16 miles. Go Southeast (R) on State Rte 99 (road jogs) - 5 miles. In Downtown Hillsdale go East (L) on E Bacon Rd - 4 miles. Michindoh is on your right. Travel time approx. 3.5 hours.
  Cleveland Go West on I-80/90 through Toledo to Hwy 15 (exit 2). Go North (R) on Hwy 15 to M99 in Michigan. Continue on M99 to M34 intersection. Go West (L) .25 miles on M34 to Lake Pleasant Rd. Go North (R) on Lake Pleasant Rd to E Bacon Rd (follow airport signs - road jogs). Go East (R) on E Bacon Rd for .5 mile. Michindoh is on your right. Travel time approx. 3.5 hours.
  Indianapolis Go North on I-69 to Michigan. Continue North on I-69 to US 12 - 13 miles. Go East (R) on US 12 to State Rte 99 just before Jonesville - 16 miles. Go through Addison to Church Rd (look for green road sign) - 8 miles (after you veer). Go West (R) on Church Rd to Waldron Rd - 2.7 miles. Go South (L) on Waldron Rd 1 mile to E Bacon Rd. Go West (R) on E Bacon Rd - 7.4 miles. Michindoh is on your left. Travel time approx. 1.25 hours.

Daily Schedule

Day 1: Arrival and Check-in While the daily time schedule is subject to change the content will remain consistent with that advertised here.
(Sunday, May 19)

Note: Refreshments will be available upon your arrival in the lobby of the main hotel/lodge facility. Baggage assistance is available upon request. Dinner will be served in the main Atrium dining room, followed by an introductory session.



   
 Afternoon: 4:00 arrival and check in. We will have refreshments available in the lodge lounge upon your arrival.
 Dinner: 5:30 pm Dinner will be served buffet style in our beautiful Atrium Dining room. Assistance will be available upon request. Please communicate any specific dietary needs to us prior to arrival so that we can ensure your menu needs are met while with us!
 Evening: 7:00 pm we will have our welcome and introductory session in preparation for our week together. You'll be swooning as you enjoy this evenings fun and interactive performance. You never know, Elvis may even show up for a song or two! In addition, an overview of schedule, services and accommodations will be presented. Questions are always welcome.

Day 2: Introduction to Big Band and Southern Gospel Music.
(Monday, May 20)

Note: Today will include classroom style presentations as well as our campus tour. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will all be served in our beautiful dining area. Please be sure to communicate any dietary restrictions in advance so that we may serve your menu needs while with us!



   
 Breakfast: 6:30 am The Michigan Room will be open with fresh coffee, hot water for tea and fruit each morning. Feel free to get a head start on your day if you are an early riser. Breakfast is served in the Atrium Dining room. You will enjoy the view through the window frontage of your dining area. Breakfasts offer both hot and cold options; light fruit and yogurt or hot entrée options for the heartier breakfast eater. Assistance is available upon request.
 Morning: 9:15 am Today's morning session will introduce you to the sounds and look of the old phonograph. Our presenter has a passion for the collection of these older musical tools! Old records, machines and instruction will all be a part of the presentation. .
 Lunch: 11:45 am Lunches will be served in Atrium Dinning room, located on our lower level of the main Lodge facility. An elevator is available to conveniently assist you as you travel the short distance from meeting room to dining facility. As always, our staff are available for assistance upon request. Lunch menu offers fresh salad bar, several menu options, a light dessert as well as our juice bar. Coffee, tea, water are always available as well.
 Afternoon: 2:00 pm "An Introduction to Gospel Music" Many guests have come to appreciate the unique style of Southern Gospel. Whether this has been part of your personal experience or even if this is an introduction for you, we're sure you'll appreciate a look at the history and progression Southern Gospel Music has gone through. As always, lectures are sprinkled with musical inclusions. Many guests enjoy the opportunity to investigate Michindoh's beautiful campus with a short walk to or around our privately owned Weatherwood Lake following lunch. Others appreciate the opportunity to take a short nap prior to the afternoon session. Whichever your preference, we know you will make good use of the brief break between lunch and afternoon sessions each day.
 Dinner: 5:30 pm Dinner is served in the Atrium Dining room. As always, a fresh salad bar is available for your enjoyment along with several entrée options. Please don't hesitate to ask for assistance from one of our kitchen or guest service staff who will be standing by just waiting to be asked for help! If you have additional menu needs that are not being met, please let us know. The juice and milk bar, coffee, tea and water are available. Desserts are served with every lunch and dinner.
 Evening: 7:00 pm We are in for a real treat this evening. Our own private Jazz performance by local artists you're sure to enjoy!

Day 3: Today's musical presentations will highlight local high school programs. Enjoy the opportunity to peak into the musical school experiences similar to what your grandchildren may participate in.
(Tuesday, May 21)

Note: A local field trip to Spring Arbor University or Hillsdale College for a musical presentation.



   
 Breakfast: 6:30 am Every morning, the Michigan room will be open with fresh coffee, tea, ice water and fruit. In addition, each morning by 8:15, several daily news papers will be brought in so you can keep on the news. Breakfast in the Atrium. Fresh light and heavy breakfast options available each morning for breakfast. In addition to the full entrée menu, seasonal fruit, yogurt and pastries will also be available.
 Morning: 9:00 am Today's morning session is entitled "A Brief Romp through the History of Classical Music." Whether you are a classical lover or prefer a more contemporary form of music, you will appreciate this introduction to "Classical" music!
 Lunch: 11:45 pm Lunch in the Atrium dining room. You will enjoy the full menu options you have come to expect by this point in your week. Remember to pace yourself, every meal is wonderful!
 Afternoon: 2:00 pm This afternoon will include a performance and presentation by a local school musical program.
 Dinner: 5:30 dinner in the Atrium. Just let us know if your dietary needs have changes at all during the week. We want you to have a comfortable week here at Michindoh!
 Evening: 7:00 pm "Broadway: The American Musical" Tonight's session will focus on Broadway. The progression and growth! You'll enjoy this evening of watching visual and audio clips from some of your favorite productions. .

Day 4: Dinner Theater as we enjoy the musical/theatrical presentation of "Church Basement Ladies; the original" Our evening session will include a look at Broadway.
(Wednesday, May 22)

Note: Most of today will be spent on a field trip to Cornwells Turkeyville, U.S.A.



   
 Breakfast: 6:30 am Michigan room refreshed with coffee and tea. Breakfast in the Atrium Dining room at 7:45.. Because of our fresh meal service, our buffet is open for a limited period of time each meal. Please do your best to attend breakfast close to service time.
 Morning: This morning will be a quiet one, as we prepare for an 10:00 am departure to Turkeyville, U.S.A.. We will travel together, by bus, to Marshall, Mi where we will enjoy a wonderful afternoon together at the theater.
 Lunch: A full thanksgiving style dinner will be served at Turkeyville. Following lunch, you will have a brief opportunity to peruse the local gift shops before coming together again for our matinee musical show.
 Afternoon: Performance Title to be announced.
 Dinner: We will have returned to Michindoh for our dinner meal. Relax and enjoy a quiet dinner overlooking Lake Weatherwood.
 Evening: 7:15 "Musicals on the Silver Screen/Best of the Big Bands" by Karl Schmidt Revisit the musical styles of the 20's, 30's and 40's. This presentation is full of video and audio clips to enjoy! Both lecture and musical presentation will be involved.

Day 5: Today we will enjoy a presentations of more modern styles of music including but not limited to the Blues/Jazz/Rock. Our evening will include a beautiful piano concert and dessert social.
(Thursday, May 23)

Note: Today will be spent entirely on the beautiful Michindoh Campus. As always, all three meals provided.



   
 Breakfast: 6:30 am Michigan room refreshed and open Breakfast in the Atrium. By this time, you will know what a wonderfully full breakfast menu will await your arrival. Staff will be available for assistance or to answer questions.
 Morning: 9:00 am "Survey of American Popular Music in the 20th Century" Again, this presentation will include both lecture and musical presentation. This presentation will provide you the opportunity to review music you grew up with as well as may provide you the opportunity to learn a little about the music your grandchildren enjoy today.
 Lunch: 11:45 pm Lunch in the Atrium Dining room. As you've come to expect, several entrées, fresh fruit and salad, dessert, juice and milk bar. Please ask for assistance if you have food restrictions or needs.
 Afternoon: 1:00 Musical presentation content to be announced. Each day will offer both learning opportunities as well as performances by local musicians. A sing-a-long will be included during the week's content.
 Dinner: 5:30 pm Our last dinner together in the Atrium dining area. Regardless of the weather, the view is always beautiful from this room in the Lodge. Enjoy your meal while looking out over the lake and at the incredible natural beauty.
 Evening: 7:00 pm Your conference area will have been transformed for our closing night performance. Candle light, sparkling cider, and the finest desserts only serve to enhance the delightful evening spent mesmerized by the melodic piano performance of Renee Runyon. If we are lucky, there will even be an opportunity for a little singing! Renee teaches piano at Spring Arbor University as well as accompanies for local churches, choirs, and other performances. A perfect way to enjoy our final evening together.

Day 6: Final musical presentation from a local school music program, week in review and departure following lunch.

 Breakfast: 6:30 am Michigan room will be refreshed and open. No news papers this morning. 7:45 am Breakfast in the Atrium dining area.
 Morning: 9:00 am Closing Musical performance and presentation.
