You and your young learner will grow closer while you participate in great, fun activities, at YMCA Trout Lodge, a family camp/conference center in the foothills of the eastern Ozarks. Begin by learning about rocks and minerals, and then head off into some of the world's largest granite boulders. "Compete" with other teams in miniature golf and board games, enjoy a campfire with s'mores and other activities, and get comfortable riding a horse in our arena before heading out on a trail ride through hardwood forests.
Highlights
• Enjoy a half-day Ozark style canoe trip down the scenic Courtois River.
• Challenge yourself by climbing a 20-foot rock wall and zipping down a 250-foot zip line.
• Begin a "memory" scrapbook of the week's highlights at our craft center.
Activity Particulars
Walking up to two miles on uneven terrain. Horseback riding up to three hours.
Coordinated by YMCA of Greater St. Louis/Trout Lodge.
Potosi
The Eastern Ozarks are defined as much by its history and culture as by geology, geography and landscapes. Potosi is one of several rural communities in this region of clear streams, big springs and pastoral scenery. Gently rolling hills, deep valleys and plateaus are home to small farms and an abundance of wineries which dot the countryside.
Accommodations
Lodge with hotel-style rooms with lake-view balconies. Buffet-style meals with many options in lodge dining room. Lodge shuttle between St. Louis and Trout Lodge runs once on Sunday and once on Friday; additional fee.
