Flexed like an arm jutting out into the Atlantic from Massachusetts, Cape Cod was formed by glaciers and changed through the ages by rising and falling seas. The Cape is cherished today as a place of extraordinary natural beauty, and the home of notable scientific institutions based at Woods Hole Village including the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, Marine Biological Laboratory, and The Woods Hole Research Center. Join us to learn about Cape Cod, its natural history and advanced scientific research.

  From Bourne Bridge Take Route 28 south 14 miles to the first traffic light. At the intersection of Route 28 and Jones Road, turn left. The Holiday Inn is one half mile on the right facing Jones Pond.
  From Metropolitan Boston Area Southeast Expressway to Route 3. Take Exit 1A to Route 6 West. Take first exit at Bourne Bridge rotary to Route 28 (Falmouth and the Islands), to Bourne Bridge over Cape Cod Canal.
  From Points North Take Interstate 495 to Route 25 East to Bourne Bridge over Cape Cod Canal.
  From Providence and New York Interstate 95 to Providence, Interstate 195 East from Providence to Route 25 East to Bourne Bridge over Cape Cod Canal.

 Evening: Orientation led by your group leader and "Welcome to Cape Cod" historical lecture with local expert.

Day 2: Cape Cod Canal/Whale Watch Study Cruise/Sandwich Glass Museum
(Monday, June 10)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast at hotel restaurant.
 Morning: Journey to the Cape Cod Canal where interactive films and exhibits illustrate the history of the canal project and its impact on New England shipping.Continue on to Sandwich, the oldest town on Cape Cod, for a walking tour of the Glass Museum.
 Lunch: Eat lunch in Sandwich, the oldest town in Cape Cod.
 Afternoon: After lunch head to Barnstable Harbor for a naturalist-led whale watch study cruise at the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary.
 Dinner: Relax at a restaurant in Falmouth and enjoy and some traditional Cape Cod cooking.

Day 3: Marine Biology Laboratory/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution/Woods Hole Research Center
(Tuesday, June 11)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast at hotel.
 Morning: Hear from a Scientist at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, followed by a tour of the Marine Resources Center for a look at the marine animals used in MBL research.
 Lunch: Eat lunch among the scientists at the Marine Biology Laboratory Cafeteria.
 Afternoon: Visit the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute's to learn about the Institution's ocean science research and the vessels and tools developed by WHOI engineers and scientists for use in that research. Afterwards, coach to the Woods Hole Research Center and hear about the Center's ongoing research projects aimed at mapping changes in the world's ecosystems. Discuss science based solutions to global evvironmental challenges and take a tour of the Center's facilities
 Dinner: Dinner on own to explore local fare.

Day 4: Bill Sargent Lecture/Salt Pond Visitor CenterFort Hill Trail/Nauset Light/
(Wednesday, June 12)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast at hotel restaurant
 Morning: Following a lecture by Author Bill Sargent, venture along historic route 6a to the Salt Pond Vistitor Center in Eastham for an introductory film on the United States Life Saving Service and Cape Cod National Seashore.
 Lunch: Boxed Lunches
 Afternoon: Stop at the Fort Hill Trail for a short walk along a well defined path. Cross through open fields to enjoy great views of Nauset Marsh and the seashore. Visit Nauset Light for a lighthouse tour before returning to the hotel. This iconic lighthouse (logo of Cape Cod Potato Chips), was once one of two towers in Chatham. Day 5: Provincetown Center of Coastal Studies Seal Walk/Cape Cod National Sea Shore Dune Tour/Race Point Light
(Thursday, June 13)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast at hotel restaurant.
 Morning: Participants will spend the final full day of the program in Provincetown. First a scientist from the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies will lead a 1 mile Seal Walk.
 Lunch: Lunch in Province Town, followed by Free time.
 Afternoon: Participants will take a dune tour on the Cape Cod National Seahsore. Afterwards, explore the Old Harbor Life-Saving Station and visit the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown. Exhibits about local plants and animals and the Pilgrim's landing in Provincetown are featured.
 Dinner: Enjoy a farewell dinner at a local Restaurant
