The National Shrimp Festival, held each October on the beaches of Alabama’s Gulf Coast, has become one of America’s favorite outdoor festivals over its 40+ year history. In this holiday for seafood lovers, hundreds of presenters offer arts and crafts, musical entertainment, an international marketplace and — of course! — shrimp and other tasty treats prepared in a variety of ways. Learn about the seafood industry, immerse yourself in the festival atmosphere, and enjoy free time opportunities to tickle your taste buds.
Highlights
• Learn about the seafood industry, types of shrimp harvested in the Gulf of Mexico, their economic importance, and go behind the scenes at a processing plant to see how some of your favorite foods get from boat to table. • With an expert chef, learn how to create your own seafood specialties and taste scrumptious Gulf Coast favorites as well as enjoying a dinner out at a popular local restaurant. • Use the free time reserved for your personal independent exploration to experience the diverse sights, sounds, and tastes of the Shrimp Festival during a full afternoon with lunch on your own.
