For Doubletree Hotel - exit at 30th Street and take a taxi to the Doubletree Hotel ($10.00 for the cab up to 4 persons in the cab) or continue on train to Suburban Station at 16th & JFK Blvd and take a taxi $5.00 or you can walk. Cross JFK at 16th St and walk to Locust St (5 blocks) then left onto Locust and walk 2 blocks to Broad St. Hotel is on corner of Broad & Locust.
 
Driving Directions
  From Baltimore, Washington and Points South: Take I-95 North past the Philadelphia Intl. Airport following the signs to the Broad Street exit. Take Broad Street North and follow Broad Street for about 3 miles. The hotel is on the corner of Broad and Locust.
  From Harrisburg, Hershey and points West: Take Pennsylvania Turnpike East to exit 24 (Valley Forge). Get onto 76 E following signs to Central Philadelphia. Take Vine St. (I-676) to Broad St. exit and make a right onto 15th St. Follow 15th St. to locust and make a left onto Locust. Go 1 block to Broad St. and the hotel is on the corner.
  From New York, New Jersey and points Northeast (via NJ Turnpike): Take NJ Turnpike South to exit 4 (Philadelphia/Camden Exit). Take 73 North to 38 West. Follow signs to The Benjamin Franklin Bridge . Once over the bridge follow signs for 676 West. Take 676 West to the Broad Street/ Central Philadelphia Exit onto 15th street heading South. Take 15th Street (approx 7 blocks) and make a left turn onto Locust Street. Take Locust one block to Broad Street, the hotel is located directly in front of you at the corner of Broad and Locust Streets.
  From Philadelphia International Airport: Take I-95 North to Exit 17 (PA-611 North/ Broad Street Exit). Continue North on Broad Street for approximately 3 miles. The Hotel is located on the right side, one block past Spruce Street at the corner of Broad and Locust Street.

Day 1:
(Wednesday, May 8)
   
 Afternoon: Check-in after 4:00 p.m. Road Scholar has a sign in desk in hotel lobby for you to pick-up your material from 4-4:30 PM. Orientation begins at 4:30 p.m. A hotel message board inside the elevator will specify meeting room name and floor. Generally there is not an evening activity the date of arrival unless due to a speaker change or a performance availability. The information packet we mail out will advise you if a performance is scheduled that evening.

Day 2: Music and Art lectures- Evening student recital at The Curtis Institute of Music
(Thursday, May 9)
   
 Breakfast: breakfast at hotel
 Morning: A noted Philadelphia musicologist will lecture on popular topic relating to the music week's performance
 Lunch: lunch at hotel or at a local eaterie close to the hotel
 Afternoon: art lecture on the collections of The Philadelphia Msueum of Art
 Dinner: dinner out a a local popular restaurant
 Evening: Attend the Curtis Institute of Music student recital at The curtis Mansion on Rittenhouse Square. The Curtis Institute of Music has graduated such outstanding performers such as Lang Lang, Sarah Chang, Anna Moffo and many more

Day 3: Music lecture in the morning/Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Museum/Dinner/Evening Activity

 Lunch: lunch at hotel
 Afternoon: Art lecture on the collections of The Philadelphia Museum of Art
 Dinner: After dinner, we will attend the Philadelphia orchestra concert conducted by Eschenbach with violinist Leonidas Kavakos playing Bartok.
 Evening: Free evening

Day 4: Music lecture/The Rodin Museum and Philadelphia Museum of Art/Free Afternoon and evening/dinner on own
(Saturday, May 11)
   
 Breakfast: breakfast at hotel
 Morning: This morning enjoy a music lecture presented by one of the cellists of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Then visit the Rodin Museum and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Depending on your interest in the museum, your free afternoon should begin about 2:30 pm
 Lunch: This meal is not included in the program so that you may enjoy your choice of a local restaurant
 Afternoon: Free afternoon
 Dinner: An opportunity to dine out or to meet with friends.
 Evening: The current schedule has this evening free. It is important to note that this could change based on the music performance schedule. Please review final schedule upon arrival.

Day 5: Architecture lecture and Field Exploration/Organ recital at Wanamaker's/Field Exploration of Kimmel Center/Dinner/Philadelphia Orchestra evening
(Sunday, May 12)
   
 Breakfast: breakfast at hotel
 Morning: Join us for an interesting lecture to discuss architecture followed by stroll along the Avenue of the Arts (Broad Street) to study the architectural periods of the noted landmarks on the avenue. Enjoy an organ recital at noon at the John Wanamaker store (now Macys'). The Wanamaker organ is the largest working pipe organ in the world. The distance walked is 4 tenths of a mile.
 Lunch: lunch out
 Afternoon: This afternoon following our architecture introduction you will be amazed at the beauty of the performance hall of The Philadelphia Orchestra at The Kimmel Center on Broad Street
 Dinner: Dinner at the hotel or at a local restaurant
 Evening: Attend a concert at The Kimmel Center. Program to be displayed closer to the date

Day 6: Visit The National Museum of American Jewish History
