In case studies and expert-led discussions, examine the challenges facing U.S. diplomacy and the functions of embassies and consulates, and spend the week with ambassadors and foreign service officers and their spouses in a wonderfully informal and friendly, yet very educational atmosphere. The Chautauqua Institution offers this program with the American Foreign Service Association, the professional association of the Foreign Service.

Take I 90 west toward Erie and exit 60 at Westfield NY. Turn left onto Rte 394 and proceed 11 miles to Chautauqua Institution Main Gate entrance. Follow directional signs to the Athenaeum Hotel.

Take I 90 west to exit 60-Westfield, NY. Turn left onto Rte 394 and proceed 11 miles to Cahutauqua Institution Main Gate Entrance. Follow directional signs to Athenaeum Hotel.
Cleveland, Erie and West
Take I 90 east toward Buffalo to exit I 86- exit 37. Proceed 20 miles on I 86 to exit 7 - Rte 33. Exit and turn left heading East-proceed 4 miles to Rte 394. Turn right onto 394 and proceed 1/4 mile to Chautauqua Institution Main Gate Entrance. Follow directional signs to Athenaeum Hotel.
Pittsburgh and South
Take I 79 North to I 90 East through Erie. Follow I 90 to Route I 86 -exit 37. Take I 86 to exit 7- 20 miles. Turn left onto Route 33 off of exit and proceed east to Rte 394. Hotel check-in and program registration is from 3-5 pm followed by a welcome reception, dinner and brief orientation. Groups breakout for intrudctions and detailed information on program and week.
Dinner:
Dinner begins at 6:00 pm.
Evening:
Orientation and individual group breakouts begin at 7 pm.

2 morning class sessions, and 1 afternoon session

Buffet breakfast in the hotel dining room from 7-8:15 am
Morning:
Morning class sessions 8:30-10 AM 10:30-12:00 and 2-3:30 pm M-T-Th and morning sessions only on Wed and Fri. Each group will rotate through all presentations throughout the week. Shuttles to and from classes available.
Lunch:
Buffet lunch is served in the hotel dining room from 12:00 noon-1:30 pm
Afternoon:
Afternoon classes are from 2:00-3:30 pm daily The above presenters teach both am and Afternoon sessions
