Religion and Oppression

Examine the connection between religion and oppression. Biblical texts and stories used to marginalize people by race, by sex or by the money in their pocketbook will be the focus of presentations and discussion. At issue is the attachment of evil to one group for the benefit of another.

Film Music of Henry Mancini, Harry Warren, John Williams & More

Through recordings, videos and live performances we will hear some of the most memorable music ever written for film. Compare Hollywood soundtracks of decades past with the pop song soundtracks heard in theaters today.

Turning Points in History: What If?

WHAT IF? The destruction of the Temple, Constantine’s conversion, Henry VIII, Industrial Revolution, American Independence, Steam Engine, Manhattan Project and the collapse of the USSR hadn’t happened? Lively discussion on the alternate realities.

DeLand

DeLand is within easy reach of Disney World, the Daytona International Speedway, Sea World and Universal Studios. The town itself, known as the “Athens of Florida,” is surrounded by spring-fed lakes and acres of orange groves. The nearby Blue Spring State Park is home to manatees.
