Days 1-3: Disembark ship in Moscow (Russia):

Take advantage of three additional days to discover Russia’s capital, one of the largest, most historic, most fascinating cities anywhere. Take an expert-led field trip to the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, boasting masterpieces by both Russian and Western European artists. Enjoy abundant free time to discover Moscow independently Lodging: Centrally located four-star hotel.

Russia’s beloved megalopolis spreads out over 1,000 square miles, but at the heart of this 850-year-old city lies the Kremlin, the nexus of political power for more than a millennium. Like a small village, the Kremlin shelters cathedrals, gardens and the Armory, full of Romanov treasures.

  Description: The Moscow Marriott Tverskaya Hotel is housed in a beautiful, modern building in the city center; it is a rather small and comfortable hotel, recently renovated (204 rooms and suites), and located within walking distance to Red Square, the Kremlin, and the Bolshoi Theatre (approximately 2 miles). Public transportation is easily available.

  Room amenities: Guest rooms are spacious, have 1 or 2 double beds, are air conditioned, have bottled water, a safe, a bathtub/shower combination with private bathroom, a hairdryer, standard bathroom amenities, Mini-refrigerator, cable television with all-news channels, AM/FM radio, and a direct-dial phone. Electrical adaptor plugs are also available.

Daily Schedule

Day 1: Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts
(Tuesday, July 30)

Note: Walking up to 2 miles, rest areas are available
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast on board the ship.
 Morning: After breakfast on board the ship and check-out, transfer to the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts for an expert-led excursion, focusing on the museum's collection. Opened in 1912, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts houses a collection of Western European art second in Russia only to St. Petersburg's Hermitage. Much of the strength of the collection is Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings. A special collection of Schliemann’s Gold of Troy is also on display here and could be explored during free time in the museum.
 Lunch: Lunch in a restaurant in the city
 Afternoon: Arrive at hotel for check in. Free time.
 Dinner: Dinner on your own.
 Evening: Free evening for personal discoveries and performances. Assistance with tickets to the Bolshoi and other theaters is available during the program (subject to performance schedule).

Day 2: Expert-led lecture / Free afternoon and evening
(Wednesday, July 31)
   
 Breakfast: Buffet breakfast at hotel.
 Morning: An expert-led lecture (topic to be reconfirmed on site).
 Lunch: Lunch in a restaurant in the city.
 Afternoon: Free afternoon in the city center: have independent visits to museums of your choice, or explore Manezh Square, the GUM department store, or the theater district. Your Group Leader is available to assist you on site and to make suggestions for independent visits.
 Dinner: Dinner on your own.
 Evening: Free evening for personal discoveries and performances. Assistance with tickets to the Bolshoi and other theaters is available during the program (subject to performance schedule).
