Sharon Foehl
Sharon began working as a Site Coordinator and Group Leader with Road Scholar programming throughout Vermont in 2003. Since that time, she has helped in developing programs that take her all over New England, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. She received her certification with IGA (International Guide Academy) in 2012 and continues working with them as an instructor helping others achieve certification as tour guides and directors.
 
Keith Kibler
Keith Kibler made his national debut with the Opera Theater of St. Louis and the Boston symphony, with Seiji Ozawa conducting. He has sung over 30 lead operatic roles internationally and is also an accomplished lieder singer. Trained in Vienna, London and Boston, Keith received his doctorate and performer’s certificate from the Eastman School of Music. He teaches a course on music drama at Skidmore College and has taught courses on opera at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
 
Rosalind Cramer
Rosalind Cramer is professor emeritus of theatre arts at Daemen College, where she taught for 36 years. In addition to teaching, she has performed in or directed more than 250 productions and has written several plays. She also co-founded the award-winning Theatre of Youth Company. Roz has been honored with inclusion on the Western New York Walk of Fame and received an Arties Lifetime Achievement Award. She and her husband now split their time between Williamstown, Mass., and Sarasota, Fla., and she enjoys serving as an instructor on Road Scholar programs in both locations.

  From Albany, NY 1.5 hrs Take Rt 787 North to Troy, NY and exit at Hoosick Street/Rt 7. Follow Rt 7 North approx 6 miles to a traffic light at the junction with Rt 278. Take a right at the light on to Rt 278 and follow a short distance to where it ends at Rt 2. Take a left on to Rt 2 East and follow it over the mountain to Williamstown, MA. At the rotary, continue on Rt 2 East towards North Adams. As you approach the downtown area, bear right on to an off ramp marked "exit for downtown business district". At the bottom of the ramp you'll see the Hotel across the street. Go through one set of lights and take a right at the next set onto American Legion Drive. Hotel is on your right.

Daily Schedule

Day 1: Afternoon Arrival/Orientation

 Arrive To: CHECK IN:Please arrive at the Hotel to register between 3:00 and 4:30pm. Check in at the front desk and then register with Road Scholar staff in the Main lobby. You will then have until 5:00pm to settle into your room.
 Dinner: All dinners will be served at the hotel. Please remember that all dinners are buffet style or plated, sit-down meals and to arrive at the time indicated on your itinerary.
 Evening: ORIENTATION: After dinner we will have our Orientation. This will provide you with information about the inn, program itinerary, instructors, venues and on site staff. We will discuss how with cultural institutions including Tanglewood, Williamstown Theatre Festival, the Francine & Sterling Clark Art Institute and other regional theatres, the Berkshires have earned the privilege of calling themselves America's Premiere Cultural Resort. We will then ask participants introduce themselves to the group. This is also a good opportunity to ask questions.

Day 2: MassMoCA/Opera Recital
(Tuesday, July 16)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast at the Inn.
 Morning: FIELD TRIP: Since opening in 1999, MASS MoCA has become one of the world's premier centers for making and showing the best art of our time. With annual attendance of 120,000, it ranks among the most visited institutions in the United States dedicated to new art. More than 80 major new works of art and more than 50 performances have been created through fabrication and rehearsal residencies in North Adams, making MASS MoCA perhaps the most fertile site in the country for new art. The museum thrives on making and presenting work that is fresh, surprising, and challenging.
 Lunch: Lunch is at the hotel. Please remember that lunches are plated, sit-down meals and to arrive at the time indicated on your itinerary.
 Afternoon: PRESENTATION: This afternoon's lecture is given by a Berkshire historian. Learn why the Berkshires are such a lovely and popular spot for visitors from all over.
 Dinner: All dinners will be served at the hotel. Please remember that all dinners are buffet style or plated, sit-down meals and to arrive at the time indicated on your itinerary.
 Evening: PERFORMANCE: This evening, enjoy a recital by opera singer, Keith Kibler. Day 3: Cark Art Institute/Williamstown Theatre Festival
(Wednesday, July 17)

 Morning: FIELD TRIP: This morning we travel to the Clark Art Institute, the Berkshire's premier museum. In 1950 Sterling and Francine Clark chartered the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute as a home for their extensive art collection. Opened to public in 1955, the Institute has built upon this extraordinary group of works to become one of the most beloved and respected art museums in the world, known for its intimate galleries and stunning natural environment. One of the few institutions in the United States that combines a public art museum with a complement of research and academic programs, including a major art history library, the Clark is now a leading international center for research and discussion on the nature of art and art history. Building upon the founders' legacy, the Institute has recently unveiled its master plan for the twenty-first century, which fosters the Clark's commitment to providing space for its expanding research and museum programs while maintaining the unique character of its beautiful rural setting.

 Evening: PERFORMANCE: This evening we will travel to Williamstown Theatre Festival. PYGMALION By George Bernard Shaw Directed by Nicholas Martin With Robert Sean Leonard "You have no idea how frightfully interesting it is to take a human being and change her into a quite different human being." With all the parallels of a modern reality-show makeover, an impoverished flower seller is taken in hand by a linguistics professor who attempts to change her accent and pass her off as the epitome of English society. For a wager. A sharp satire on class and women's independence, Shaw's century-old masterpiece features Robert Sean Leonard as Henry Higgins in an uproarious, poignant, and unforgettable battle of wits between two of theatre's most iconic characters. Every effort will be made to also include a pre or post show talk or a meet and greet with actors, interns or backstage staff. Nestled in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts, the Williamstown Theatre Festival is a celebration of theater that brings together a vast array of artists and offers audiences varied cultural experiences. Every summer, WTF presents classic and new plays on its Main, Nikos and Center Stages. Day 4: Shakespeare & Company
(Thursday, July 18)

 Afternoon: FIELD TRIP:Enjoy an afternoon lecture with Roz, followed by total immersion into the world of Shakespeare. Day 5: Tanglewood
(Friday, July 19)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast will be served at the Hotel restaurant. Please allow enough time to get to the morning activity promptly.
 Morning: PRESENTATION: This morning, Keith gives you a lecture on tonight's Tanglewod performance.
 Lunch: Lunch is served at the hotel.
 Afternoon: PRESENTATION: This afternoon Keith continues his lecture.
 Dinner: Dinner is served at the hotel or on the grouds of Tanglewood.
 Evening: PERFORMANCE: This evening at Tanglewood we enjoy the Boston Symphony Orchestra. WAGNER - Prelude to Die Meistersinger LISZT - Totentanz, for piano and orchestra BRAHMS - Symphony No. 1 Tanglewood was named for American author Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hawthorne, on the advice of his publisher William Ticknor, rented a small cottage in the area in March 1850 from William Aspinwall Tappan. While at the cottage Hawthorne wrote Tanglewood Tales (1853), a re-writing of a number of Greek myths for boys and girls. In memory of the book, the owner renamed the cottage "Tanglewood", and the name was soon copied by a nearby summer estate owned by the Tappan family. Tanglewood concerts can be traced back to 1936, when the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) gave its first concerts in the Berkshires.

Day 6: Final Lecture/program closes
(Saturday, July 20)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast is served at the hotel.
 Morning: PRESENTATION: Final lecture and wrap up of the program is followed by time to pack and prepare for lunch. This morning's lecture is given by a Berkshire historian. Learn why the Berkshires became such a draw for theatre, arts & music.
 Lunch: Enjoy a box lunch for travel. Check out at 11:30.
