Visit museums and a marine studies laboratory for firsthand insights into coastal history and lifestyles, and hone your palate for wine comparison and pairing with a tasting at a well-known vineyard.

Rehoboth Beach

Long ago, Native Americans came here during the summer for cool breezes and abundant seafood. Today, visitors from the D.C. area and beyond flock to Rehoboth Beach -- established as a seaside resort in 1891 -- to enjoy those same features, and to relax on sandy beaches and in beachfront cafes.

Doris Hicks
An advisor for the National Fisheries Institute, Doris Hicks is an expert in food safety and sanitation. She trains and assists growers in preventing health issues for their products, and shares her knowledge with individuals and groups through the Sea Grant Marine Advisory Service in Lewes, Del. Doris has a bachelor’s in food science from Rutgers University, and a master’s in food science and human nutrition from the University of Delaware.

 Evening: Informal reception - socialize and learn about Historic Rehoboth - its evolution from Methodist campground to nation's lively playground!

Day 2: The Delicious Eastern Shore/Big Fish Seafood Market/Wine Tasting/Free Evening
(Tuesday, September 24)
   
 Breakfast: Hotel Dining
 Morning: Great discussion of indigenous foods (crabs, terrapin and more); learn lore, legend and influence of Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay on fisheries, watermen and culinary traditions. Then travel to a local seafood market. Learn about a variety of fish and seafood. Interactive food demonstration.
 Lunch: Lunch at restaurant associated with the seafood market.
 Afternoon: Wine Tasting and Lecture on pairing of wines and food.
 Dinner: Hotel Dining
 Evening: Free Evening to enjoy our quaint seaside village.

Day 3: College of Marine Studies/"Trip to Eastern Shore in Maryland/Entertainment by Local Band.

 Afternoon: Trip to quaint town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
