Enameling is a technique that can be traced back far into history. The Celts began doing it in Ireland around 300BC. It was originally developed as a way to add color to metal - but the many and different ways that it has developed provide the artist/craftsman with an almost infinite variety of uses. This course will provide an introduction to basic enameling techniques: sifting, wet-packing, stencils and underglazes. Students can expect to complete two or three small projects or one large one. Class will be small and give opportunity for individual attention. All the necessary tools and supplies will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own if they desire.
