Aid efforts to rehabilitate exotic animals including large cats such as panthers and cougars as well as birds and reptiles at Arnold’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, a not-for-profit facility in southern Florida. Many of the animals have been rescued by State and Federal agencies and handed over to the care of the dedicated staff at Arnold’s. Help with day-to-day maintenance, tasks such as feeding and landscaping, and learn about ongoing efforts to protect the Florida Panther from extinction.

Take 95 North 7 miles to Exit #76 (State Route 708) turn left and follow 1 mile, stay to the right to take Beeline Highway/FL-710. Follow FL-710, 53 miles to FL-70. Turn left onto FL-70, hotel is 1 mile on the left.
Orlando Airport
Take the South Airport Exit, follow the road until it turns into Creek Road. Turn right onto Route 15 (Narcoossee Road). Turn left onto 192. Turn right onto 441. Turn left onto State Route 70 (Park Street). Hotel will be on your right.
Vero Beach
Take 95 South to State Route 70 (Okeechobee Road) Exit. Turn right and follow approximately 30 miles. Hotel will be on your left.

At leisure/Facility Orientation/Service Work
(Monday, April 22)

Morning:
Lecture about Florida Panther and Florida Wildlife at the hotel then drive to Arnold Rehab Center for a Guided walk around the facility to view and learn about each individual cat's story, how the center got started and what they provide for the animals. Also to learn the layout of the center.
Lunch:
Picnic style at rehab center.
Afternoon:
Work projects defined and assigned. Review of any special tools and/or materials needed for projects. Based upon needs of Refuge Center these may include basic gardening, clearing wood, cleaning animal cages, feeding animals, some office organization and other work projects. Please note that this is not a scientific study service project - it is hands on manual labor.

Depart for Lake Okeechobee Watershed Restoration unit for a field trip and a lecture about the restoration in the Everglades by one of the Watershed experts.

Special presentation by local representative of the Florida Wildlife.

Morning:
Trip on an air boat to show the restoration of panther habitats and the restoration of the Okeechobee Lake for the environment. The wildlife is fantastic in the restored area. You never know what you will see.
Lunch:
Picnic style at rehab center.
Afternoon:
Review projects completed. Brainstorming session for ideas on how to help the center meet its financial and resource needs so that the center can continue its work saving animals from abuse and/or neglect, including the endangered Florida panther.
Dinner:
At a local restaurant.
