Explore the unparalleled beauty of two regions on opposite sides of the Alps: the Tyrol in Austria and the South Tyrol in Italy. Unearth similarities and contrasts in their culture, history, environment, and architecture as you immerse yourself in the splendid beauty of the Dolomite mountain valley and gain appreciation for these two varied and unique cultures.

Activity Particulars
Walking 4-7 miles (3-6 hours) per day. Terrain can be very uneven in the mountains, small roads, and trails that are mainly gravel and dirt, fields and meadows that have small stones. Temperatures range from 65-75 F in spring and 50-65 F in autumn. Walking boots required.

Seefeld is an enchanting town marked with traditional Tyrolean farmhouses. Noted for its beautiful countryside, it has the largest continuous strand of arolla pines in the Eastern Alps. Experts discuss the Edelweiss, architecture and Austrian farm life. Excursions include a train ride to Garmisch Partenkirchen and the charming town of Innsbruck.

Secluded in the Dolomites, Castelrotto’s storied culture is captured in time. Walk the area’s network of paths that lead to breathtaking views. Visit the village of Bressanone for its baroque Duomo, and Bolzano’s archaeological museum.
