Daily Schedule

Day 1: Arrival/Light dinner at a local cafe
(Thursday, June 7)
   
 Afternoon: Hotel check-in available after 3:30pm. 4:00pm: After checking in at the hotel front desk, come to the designated meeting room (it will be posted) to register with your Program Coordinator and pick up your arrival packet. Programs are planned far in advance, so local circumstances may require changes from time to time. We will notify you as quickly as possible should there be any changes and appreciate your understanding.
 Dinner: 5:00pm: Enjoy your first meal at the colorful Tick Tock Diner, located just off the hotel lobby. This 24-hour diner features classic American cooking. White and black checkered floors and shiny chrome columns enhance the all-American ambience. Dinner in The diner is available and included even if you arrive late. Our meal is scheduled for 5:00pm so that we can get through orientation and have some time to explore on your own. If your arrival is delayed, please attend orientation and then eat afterwards.
 Evening: 6:15pm: We begin our orientation to the program and introduce staff and members of the group. We’ll review the schedule and any updates and answer any questions you may have. Following orientation we will visit the Empire State Building.

Day 2: Uptown, Downtown & All Around the City. Take a fabulous coach ride around New York City.
(Friday, June 8)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast in the hotel
 Morning: Take a private coach ride through the isle of Manhattan. You'll travel Uptown following the path of the city's development while learning the how and why of how New York City came to be. Not only will you get an overall sense for the City of New York, you'll experience the diversity and unique character of several of our living, breathing neighborhoods as places people call home
 Lunch: Lunch on your own to explore uniquely New York food in the local fare along the way.
 Afternoon: As the coach continues and you make your way Downtown, you'll begin to have an even greater sense of the history of New York. You'll be taken along to see more of the sights and the beautiful architecture that the city has to offer.
 Dinner: Dinner in a neighborhood restaurant
 Evening: Free evening to visit the Museums open late this night, take in a show or music venue on your own. On this night, our guide will usually offer to take anyone interested to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA); the world's finest collection of modern and contemporary art.

Day 3: Learn how New York transforms itself when populations and industries change with a walk through Chelsea; home to hundreds of galleries and trendy boutiques. Find out more about the neighborhood's latest attraction, The Highline.

 Breakfast: Breakfast in the Hotel
 Morning: Guided walk through the neighborhood of Chelsea to the premier art galleries on the west side, over The Highline, and through to the famed Chelsea Markets.
 Lunch: Enjoy lunch on your own in Chelsea
 Afternoon: Free afternoon to explore the more than 300 galleries, walk the High Line or attend a matinee performance on your own.
 Dinner: Dinner in a neighborhood
 Evening: Evening free to Explore New York on your own or take a guided walk through Greenwich Village

Day 4: Everyone has heard of Harlem but what is the neighborhood really like? How did it come to be? Find out when we make our way up there for a walk and a real Harlem Soul Food Brunch.

 Depart From: Travel to Brunch
 Morning: Take the A train to Harlem and see the neighborhood that was once Alexander Hamilton's estate, the same neighborhood made famous by Count Basie and Billy Strayhorn. Walk past the famed Abyssinian Baptist Church; over 200 years old!
 Brunch: Brunch in a famed local Harlem favorite.
 Afternoon: Continue your walk through Harlem past the Schomburg Center and the Apollo Theater before heading Downtown for a guided walk through New York's pastoral oasis, Central Park.
 Dinner: Free evening to attend a Broadway show, music venues, more neighborhood highlights on your own. Many fine choices to dine in this fine city.

Day 5: Learn about the lives of those that helped build NYC into what it is today. The Lower East Side Tenement Museum and the Museum of Eldridge street will illustrate the history of and stories of those brave enough to take a chance in the Big Apple.
(Monday, June 11)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast in the hotel
 Morning: Be guided through the Lower East Side Tenement Museum; a completely restored tenement building. But not in the way you might think. In this museum, you'll be guided through the homes and lives of the actual tenants of these rooms that have been made to look just as they did when they were inhabited. You will discover the conditions in which millions of immigrants lived when they first arrived to New York City and America. Discover the dreams they arrived with and the struggles they met to make those dreams come true.
 Lunch: Lunch on your own in the Lower East Side. Make sure you try a New York pastrami sandwich with a pickle and cole slaw!
 Afternoon: Once the center of Jewish Culture in America, the Lower East Side is also home to the Eldridge Street Synagogue, recently opened after a 20 year restoration. You will be guided through the magnificently Moorish-revival style structure and learn one community's story of establishing themselves in a new and unfamiliar country.
 Dinner: A fun celebratory dinner at a local three-star restaurant!
 Evening: An optional trip on the Staten Island Ferry will be offered this evening. Enjoy the evening downtown skyline on this free ride courtesy of New York City's Transit Authority.

Day 6: Walk the Brooklyn Bridge! One of the top Seven Man-Made Wonders of the World.
(Tuesday, June 12)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast in the hotel diner
 Morning: Start off in Brooklyn Heights and make your way over to the Brooklyn Bridge. This bridge is the oldest suspension bridge in America. Enjoy the beautiful skyline as you walk over the wooden walkway and through the Gothic towers into Manhattan.
 Lunch: Program Concludes and lunch on your own.
