Daily Schedule

Day 1: Arrival & Check-in, Registration & Orientation, Getting To Know You
(Sunday, December 2)
   
 Afternoon: HOTEL CHECK-IN: From 4:00-5:00pm.

After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar desk and pick up your arrival packet containing your name tag and the most up-to-date program schedule that we'll review during orientation this evening. You'll have some free time to relax before we meet for dinner.

 Dinner: Dinner is at 6:00pm. Gourmet vegetarian meals are one of the highlights of your time with us. We are committed to right livelihood and sustainability, providing 100% vegetarian cuisine prepared fresh daily by our team of dedicated chefs using organic produce as much as we can. Our salad, vegetables, fruits, eggs, milk, and soy products are all organic, and most of our spices and grains are organic as well. We care about the environment and your health.
 Evening: ORIENTATION: Begins at 7:00pm. In addition to introductions of participants and staff, we'll have an overview of the program ahead and review the up-to-date schedule, responsibilities, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and any other administrative issues. Please be aware that local circumstances may require adjusting program elements. In the event of changes, we will notify you as quickly as possible. We appreciate your understanding.

Land of Medicine Buddha is a Tibetan Buddhist Center, a place dedicated to healing and renewing the heart. In this unique environment — among redwoods with deer and the song of birds — you can enjoy walking trails, be still with nature in the meadow, and discover the deep silence of the enchanted forest. Day 2: Movement & Self Acupressure, Meditation, Nature Walk, Feng Shui, Social Evening
(Monday, December 3)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast is in the dining room, a comfortable place to enjoy the delicious vegetarian meals prepared by our expert kitchen staff.
 Morning: MOVEMENT CLASS: Qigong (Chi Kung) is an ancient Chinese healing art that has been used for centuries to balance internal body energy and to promote good health. This method of internal energy work is a fantastic and easy practice that brings physical happiness, mental calm, and a general since of well-being. In China, Qigong has been used as a preventative health measure as well as a powerful technique to cure illness, passed on from generation to generation.
 Lunch: Healthful and tasty vegetarian lunch in the dining room.
 Afternoon: EXCURSION: After lunch, we’ll have a healthful nature walk to appreciate the beauty and peace of our surroundings in this pristine environment where redwood forests and rolling meadows abound.

CLASS: The Ancient Art of Feng Shui. Using interior design, psychology, color theory and more, learn how to create a healthy flow of natural energy in your surroundings.

 Dinner: Dinner in the dining room. Everything here is designed to nurture healing and the development of a good heart, which includes the cultivation of compassion and loving kindness.
 Evening: SOCIAL EVENING: We’ll gather together after dinner for activities that support heightened awareness for living a happy, peaceful, and meaningful life.

Day 3: Movement & Self Acupressure, Meditation, Sketching & Painting Techniques, Feng Shui, Film Evening
(Tuesday, December 4)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast in the dining room..
 Morning: MOVEMENT CLASS: Activate and harmonize life energy with the physical movements and vocal tones of Qigong (Chi Kung). Strengthen your enegry for a healthy body and happy mind!

There will be a relaxing break after the movement class.

MEDITATION CLASS: Meditation for inner harmony including presentation and discussion. The emphasis will be on experience using meditation to actually bring life enhancing changes in our thoughts and feelings.

 Lunch: Lunch in the dining room.
 Afternoon: CLASS: Sketching and Painting Techniques, for relaxation and to capture the natural environment.

CLASS: The Ancient Art of Feng Shui. We continue the exploration of interior design, psychology, color theory and more to create a healthy flow of natural energy in your surroundings.

 Dinner: Dinner in the dining room.
 Evening: FILM EVENING: We'll watch a documentary film on Qigong (Chi Kung) in the 21st Century followed by a discussion.

Day 4: Movement & Self Acupressure, Meditation, Draw a Buddha Image, Feng Shui, Symbolism of Tibetan Art
(Wednesday, December 5)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast in the dining room.
 Morning: MOVEMENT CLASS: Delve deeper into activating and harmonizing life energy with the physical movements and vocal tones of Qigong (Chi Kung).

There will be a relaxing break following the class.

MEDITATION: After a short meditation, you’ll learn to draw a Buddha image according to traditional Tibetan practice using a grid, a foundation of Tibetan art. The act of creating the image is a meditation in itself.

 Lunch: Lunch in the dining room.
 Afternoon: FREE TIME: Walk, read, sketch, enjoy a massage or sauna, or visit nearby Capitola, a beach village.

CLASS: We’ll conclude the afternoon with further examination of the Ancient Art of Feng Shui.

 Dinner: Dinner in the dining room.
 Evening: CLASS: Learn about the symbolism of Tibetan art, including a sand mandala, followed by a guided exploration of art works in the facilities at Land of Medicine Buddha.

Day 5: Movement & Self Acupressure, Meditation, Feng Shui, Sketching & Painting, Music Evening
(Thursday, December 6)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast in the dining room.
 Morning: MOVEMENT & MEDITATION CLASS: Activate and harmonize your life energy with the physical movements and vocal tones of Qigong (Chi Kung). Strengthen your energy for a healthy body and happy mind with meditation.

There will be a restful break before the next class.

CLASS: The Ancient Art of Feng Shui. By now you know that Feng Shui is both an art and a science, a complex body of knowledge that reveals how to balance the energies of any given space for health and harmony.

 Lunch: Lunch in the dining room.
 Afternoon: FREE TIME: Time to pursue your personal interests, deepen your meditations, get out into nature, whatever suits your spirit best.

CLASS: We conclude the afternoon with further work on Sketching and Painting Techniques, for relaxation and to capture the natural environment.

 Dinner: Dinner in the dining room.
 Evening: MUSIC EVENING: Music has the capacity to express the soul’s deepest feelings and to lift our minds. The teachings of the Buddha mention music on many occasions.

Day 6: Movement & Self Acupressure, Meditation, Program Concludes
(Friday, December 7)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast in the dining room.
 Morning: MOVEMENT CLASS: Welcome to our final class and your work to activate and harmonize life energy with the physical movements and vocal tones of Qigong (Chi Kung).

The class will be followed by a relaxing break.

MEDITATION: Meditation for inner harmony and using meditation to bring life enhancing changes in our thoughts feelings, with lecture and discussion.

 Lunch: Check out time is 11 AM. The program concludes with lunch.
