Join Rich Smoker, Ward Foundation World Champion, as he conducts a hands-on, decoy-carving seminar. Starting from a block of wood and using only hand tools, learn to carve, paint and finish your own bird. The class is geared to all skill levels and provides individualized instruction to every participant.

Driving Directions
  North or South Take US 13 to Crisfield Exit (413). 413 goes straight into Crisfield. The Captain Tyler Motel is located on the corner of Main and 7th Street on your left as you enter town.

Day 1: Orientation
(Sunday, December 2)
   
 Afternoon: Upon arrival, check into Motel. Come to the Tawes Museum between 4 and 6 p.m. for table set up and orientation information. Dinner will follow at 6 p.m.at the Cove Restaurant.
 Dinner: Dinner at the Cove Restaurant. 6p.m.

Day 2:
(Monday, December 3)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast buffet at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 7:30am - 8:30am.
 Morning: A look at the production of elaborate decorative and working decoys. Discuss the history of decoy carving from a rough block..
 Lunch: Lunch buffet at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 11:30am - 12:30pm.
 Afternoon: With direction from award winning carver, Rich Smoker, begin carving a decoy by hand.
 Dinner: Dinner at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.
 Evening: participants will continue their carving.

Day 3:
(Tuesday, December 4)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast buffet at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 7:30am - 8:30am.
 Morning: Participants will continue carving on the body of the decoy.
 Lunch: Lunch buffet at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 11:30 - 12:30.
 Afternoon: Participants will move to the more detailed carving of the head of the decoy.
 Dinner: Dinner at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.
 Evening: Decoy Carving

Day 4:
(Wednesday, December 5)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast buffet at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 7:30am - 8:30am.
 Morning: Continue to master your carving joining the head to the body.
 Lunch: Lunch at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 11:30 - 12:30.
 Afternoon: Free afternoon to complete project for final steps or visit the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, home to the acclaimed carvings of Lem and Steve Ward.
 Dinner: Dinner at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.
 Evening: Decoy Carving

Day 5:
(Thursday, December 6)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast buffet at Jordan's rooftop Restaurant from 7:30am - 8:30am.
 Morning: With directions from experienced carver the eyes will be set in the head of the decoy..
 Lunch: Lunch at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 11:30 - 12:30.
 Afternoon: Instructor will direct participants in the painting of the decoy.
 Dinner: Dinner at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.
 Evening: Complete the decoy in prepartion of the final stage of waxing.

Day 6: Departures
(Friday, December 7)

 Lunch: Lunch buffet at Jordan's Rooftop Restaurant from 11:00am - 12:00pm. Program ends after lunch.
