Program intended for grandchildren from 10 - 15 years of age.
Experience the journey settlers made across the prairie by riding in a wagon to a replica fort and live the pioneer life by cooking over an open fire, learning blacksmithing skills, building a log shelter and more. Meet craftspeople, historians and storytellers who acquaint you with the nature and history of this scenic area, and visit Crazy Horse Memorial, the Indian Museum of North America and Mount Rushmore.
Highlights
• Learn skills early settlers would have known, such as spinning wool, weaving on a loom, making rope and woodworking. • Celebrate the Fourth of July with a parade, games, campfire singing and bowls of ice cream that you help make. • Learn about horses during a horseshoeing demonstration and on several trail rides.
Activity Particulars
Walking up to two miles on hilly, uneven terrain; elevations up to 6,000 feet. Hikes optional. Transportation available for those who prefer not to walk.
Coordinated by Outlaw Ranch.
