• • As you know, unexpected things can happen after enrolling in a program: medical problems arise; family members or traveling companions become ill; your home could be impacted by a natural disaster. If you need to cancel your trip for these of other covered reasons, the Trip Cancellation benefit reimburses you not only for Road Scholar cancellation penalties but also your unused transportation arrangements including airfare costs, even if your airfare is purchased independently of Road Scholar.
• [+] You need to leave your program early
• • During a program, accidents, illnesses or other unforeseen emergencies—whether they happen to you, your traveling companion, or a member of your or your traveling companion’s immediate family, may cause you miss a portion of your program or return home earlier than expected. As Road Scholar cannot issue refunds to participants for program days missed due to accidents, injuries, illnesses, or other emergencies, the Trip Interruption benefit protects your program investment by providing reimbursement for unused program days you may miss due to a covered event.
• [+] You are delayed going to or returning home from your program
• • These days, with increasing frequency, air travel is impacted by weather or mechanical problems. The resulting delays could not only delay your arrival to the program but cause you to incur additional expenses while catching up to the program. The Travel Delay/Missed Connection benefit will reimburse you for additional expenses you incur to catch up to the program, including transportation, accommodation and meal expenses.
• [+] You need to change or cancel your airfare whether purchased through Road Scholar or independently
• • Another great benefit of this optional insurance is that insurance covers the cost of your airfare whether you purchase your airline tickets with Road Scholar or you make your own air arrangements. So, whether you’re flying to one of our great Domestic programs or attending an exciting International program Program-Only, your airfare would be protected as well.

Road Scholar Trip Cancellation, Interruption & Travel Delay Insurance protects you against transfer/cancellation fees should you need to transfer to another program or cancel your program registration altogether. The insurance also provides benefits if you are delayed getting to or returning home from your program and protects your investment should you have an emergency during your program that causes you to miss program days or return home earlier than expected. Your airfare, whether purchased through Road Scholar or independently, is covered — an exceptional benefit and value offered exclusively to Road Scholar participants.
