Executive Bios

James Moses James Moses
President and CEO
James Moses serves as the president and chief executive officer of Road Scholar, the world leader in lifelong learning since 1975. He has held the position since 2002.
Under his leadership, Road Scholar has become a leading educational adventure organization, with more than 210 employees and 5,500 programs offered worldwide.
Moses began his career at Road Scholar more than 30 years ago as registrar. He has held several leadership positions, including chief operating officer, senior vice president of programs and vice president of international programs.
Moses holds a bachelor of arts degree in English and psychology from Boston College.

Peter Spiers Peter Spiers
Senior Vice President, Strategic Outreach
Peter Spiers is the senior vice president of strategic outreach at Road Scholar.
After joining Road Scholar in 2002 as vice president of communications and marketing, he was promoted to senior vice president of strategic outreach, responsible for strategic planning, leading change management and communications efforts, including marketing and public relations. Prior to joining the organization, he held various leadership positions in the publishing industry.
Spiers holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a master of science from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Mike Zoob Mike Zoob
Senior Planned and Major Gifts Officer and Advisor to the President
Mike Zoob serves as the senior planned and major gifts officer and advisor to the president.
Zoob is the elder statesman at Road Scholar and a valued and trusted advisor to the president and chief executive officer. Involved with Road Scholar since 1977, he led its evolution from a social movement to a registered independent not-for-profit organization.
Over the ensuing years, he was instrumental in securing grants from marquee companies including ARCO and Kellogg Foundation, which helped establish Road Scholar as a national leader in older adult education. During his tenure he held positions as senior vice president, counselor and vice president of fundraising, catalog and marketing.
Zoob is a graduate of Trinity College (Hartford) and Harvard Law School.

Lowell Partridge Lowell Partridge
Chief Financial Officer
Lowell Partridge is the chief financial officer of Road Scholar.
Partridge oversees accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting and analysis; tax and regulatory compliance; cash and investment management; and insurance and risk management, including mitigation strategies relating to currency risk. Prior to joining Road Scholar in 1998, he oversaw internal audit departments for two financial services firms and was an audit manager and CPA for an international public accounting firm.
Partridge earned a bachelor of science in accounting from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.

JoAnn Bell JoAnn Bell
Vice President, Program Development
JoAnn Bell is the vice president of program development at Road Scholar. She provides leadership to the headquarters team and various regional offices, as well as to staff and providers around the world, developing and managing more than 5,500 programs in 150 countries and 50 states.
Prior to her various leadership roles in program development at Road Scholar, Bell held senior level positions in the travel industry.
Bell holds degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Lesley University.

Joseph R. Curl Joseph R. Curl
Vice President, Program Administration and Operations
Joseph Curl is the vice president of program administration and operations. He has held this position since 2003. Curl is responsible for overseeing operations and infrastructure, including information services, facilities, as well as the organization’s registration and service call center located in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Curl began his career at Road Scholar more than two decades ago as a registration associate. As the organization grew, he has held various roles of increased responsibility in the operations and administrative areas.
Curl holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics and international relations from Colgate University.

Steve Lembke Steve Lembke
Vice President, Institutional Advancement
Steve Lembke is the vice president of institutional advancement at Road Scholar. He oversees the organization’s major and planned giving programs and community outreach programs, and is responsible for the creation and management of all external partnership programs and initiatives. Prior to heading institutional advancement at Road Scholar, he was vice president of programs worldwide and oversaw the creation, delivery, and operation of all Road Scholar programs.
Prior to joining Road Scholar in 2003, he was involved in the creation and marketing of educational programs for non-profit organizations and spent 10 years in the field of magazine publishing and marketing.
Lembke holds degrees in English and journalism from the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Kristin Moore Kristin Moore
Vice President, Marketing and Communications
Kristin Moore is the vice president of marketing and communications at Road Scholar. She has held this position since 2008.
Moore began her career at Road Scholar nearly 20 years ago as a manager of marketing and production. Over the years, she has held various positions within marketing, managing all aspects of marketing communications, internal communications, design and social media.
Moore holds a bachelor of arts degree in humanities from Providence College.
