Road Scholar
Unveils Berlin Learning Adventure
BOSTON, January 29 — Berlin is the pre-eminent city
of the “New Europe.” Re-emerging from the Cold War as a
destination for scholars, artists and discriminating travelers, Berlin
has become a magnet for its history, its traditions, its nightlife and
its myriad of cultural attractions. Celebrating all that this majestic
German capital has to offer, Road Scholar is delighted to announce its
latest international learning adventure, which takes dedicated and inquisitive
travelers deep into the heart of this amazing city.
Road Scholars will experience Berlin’s rebirth firsthand, in
small groups, taking an architectural walking tour with a renowned local
expert. They’ll meet a member of the Holocaust Memorial Foundation
for a behind the scenes look at the memorial and cruise the Spree River
for a unique perspective on the government quarter.
Educational adventurers will go backstage at a historic opera house
to discover what it takes to mount major productions. They’ll
visit a private art collection with artists and learn the latest trends
in the newly dominant German arts scene. They’ll become part of
the city, exploring its historic places, its hidden courtyards and its
popular new neighborhoods from street level.
“Berlin has been reborn in many ways,” says Road Scholar
President James Moses. “It’s full of history, but is also
solidly avant-garde with its booming arts scene and stunning new architecture.
The city is also way ahead of the curve with its cuisine and its multitude
of museums. We’re very excited to offer Road Scholars a great
opportunity to experience the city the way Berliners do.”
