Road Scholar
Program #21068RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
The Hudson River Valley in autumn is rich in vibrant color and nation-changing history. An exceptional learning adventure brings the valley to life as you walk down America’s oldest street, explore Gen. George Washington’s final military headquarters, FDR’s home and Eleanor's Val-Kill, and discover the important role of the Hudson River at the Maritime Museum. Cap off a memorable week with a study cruise on the spectacular waters of the Hudson, taking in views of the valley and West Point Military Academy.

Highlights

• Explore New Paltz’s historic Huguenot Street, one of the nation’s oldest, featuring seven unique stone houses dating to the early 1700s, a burial ground and a reconstructed 1717 stone church.
• Experience Springwood, the beloved home of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, as well as Val-Kill, the only National Historic Site dedicated to a First Lady.
• Cruise the Hudson River past quaint sleepy villages, historic lighthouses and sumptuous estates.
