Located on a remote lake in the middle of the Adirondack wilderness, Great Camp Sagamore is a painter's fantasy. Along with sublime views of lakes, streams, mountains and forests, the Camp itself presents the creative eye with unique examples of "Adirondack rustic" architecture. With professional artists as your instructors, consider compositions ranging from grand vistas (the Adirondack mountains, rolling, forested hillsides and bucolics lakes) to intimate natural details (a mushroom, a cobweb, a bird’s nest). And all of this is just steps away from your bedroom, dining room and classroom!

• Develop paintings skills and receive instant feedback, all amid the natural beauty of the "forever wild" Adirondack wilderness.
• Enjoy lectures on the history of en plein air painting and on the Hudson River School of 19th-century landscape painters.
• Choose your artistic specialty by date - spring programs are primarily held indoors and focus on still-life painting using watercolor; summer programs focus on plein air painting.

Program Notes

Spring programs: Classes are mainly held indoors; focus on watercolor-based "still lifes."
