Led by experts including a noted maritime author and historian, explore Great Lakes lighthouses and life-saving stations and learn about the brave people that manned them and their exciting adventures. Hear the stories of shipwrecks in this area and even see some of them firsthand during an excursion on a glass-bottom boat on Lake Superior. Learn about the importance of the iron industry in the region as an expert leads you through the Tilden Iron Mine and Michigan Iron Industry Museum.


• Enjoy an expert-led exploration of the Marquette Maritime Museum, lighthouse and ore docks, and pay a visit to the Big Bay Lighthouse.
• Hear some traditional Great Lakes ghost stories inspired by the “Sweetwater Seas.”
• View the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore from the Miner's Castle Lookout and explore the Sand Point Boat House, a U.S. life-saving station with an authentic rescue boat.
