Florida’s First Coast is known for sunshine, beaches and barrier-island ecology, but the area comprising Greater Jacksonville and gorgeous Amelia Island is also a treasure trove of institutions for history, science, culture and the arts. Treat yourself to a comprehensive look at the many museums and cultural hotspots celebrating the richness of Northeast Florida. From your base on lovely Amelia Island, set out on field trips to a range of fascinating museums enhanced by behind-the-scenes interactions with museum professionals, local experts and living-history presenters.

• Visit the Amelia Island Museum of History with presentations by the executive director and the collections manager.
• Experience Jacksonville’s architectural diversity and explore city museums like the Beaches Museum and History Park, Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens and others.
• “Meet” characters from northern Florida’s past during living-history presentations, and talk with local artists during a reception at the Island Art Association artist’s cooperative.
