ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is internationally acclaimed not only for its artistic excellence but also for its innovative community-outreach initiatives. On this Road Scholar program, go backstage with the BSO and then join them onstage as part of their program for non-professional musicians. Open to all levels of experience, this is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sing selections from Verdi’s “Nabucco” side-by-side with members of a world-class symphony orchestra. Complete your experience by attending a ticketed performance of “Nabucco” by the BSO and Lyric Opera Baltimore.

• Take part in three rehearsals of selections from “Nabucco,” and then take the stage with the BSO and other amateur musicians at an open rehearsal before a live audience at the Joseph Meyerhoff Hall.
• Hear lectures from BSO staff to discover what makes a major orchestra tick.
• Go into the classrooms of west Baltimore with the BSO’s award-winning outreach program OrchKids, and discover 18th-century Baltimore with historian Michael Lisicky, a member of the BSO’s oboe section!
