Road Scholar
Program #1437RJ
5 Days | 4 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Celebrate the glory of the motion picture with fellow aficionados in central Illinois’ education capital. No other name draws to mind a film critic faster than Pulitzer Prize-winner Roger Ebert. Come and test your critical skills with rousing discussions of film, with a chance to view a number of selections hand chosen by film experts. Hobnob with the film industry’s on- and off-screen veterans as you see films with the mind’s eye of a critic instead of a carper.

Highlights

• Meet with actors, directors, producers, writers and the emcee, Roger's wife, Chaz.
• Discover your inner film critic as you review 12-14 films handpicked by film experts and Roger's fellow critics.
• Participate in academic panel discussions as you explore the depths of acting, artistry, angle and feel with top entertainment industry experts.

Program Notes

Despite Roger Ebert's passing in April 2013, the University of Illinois College of Media has said the Festival will continue indefinitely in Roger's honor. Films will be chosen by experts such as longtime festival director Nate Kohn and Roger's fellow critics.
Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.

Activity Notes

Moderate walking and standing; boarding and disembarking coach buses.

Coordinated by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
