Program #20563RJ
7 Days | 6 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Encounter a new dimension in the medium of your choice and capture Yellowstone’s matchless landscape of diverse flora, thermal features, landforms, canyons, cascades and waterways. A professional artist and art professor will mentor you throughout the week as you polish your technical skills, learn how to develop a strong composition and simply enjoy creating art in the wilds of the park.

Highlights

• Through workshops and plein air experiences, a teaching artist will lead explorations among canyons, waterfalls and geyser basins as you visually describe the vibrant colors and interesting forms.
• Capture an intimate portrait of Yellowstone's unique landscape and the infinite wonders that define its beauty.
• View a restricted collection of rare and fragile original watercolor field sketches by Thomas Moran, whose famous sketches influenced Congress’ decision to set aside Yellowstone National Park.
Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.

Activity Notes

Some moderate walking on established trails, boardwalks, some off-trail terrain to get to area for sketching/painting.

Coordinated by University of Montana Western.
