Road Scholar
Program #13957RJ
4 Days | 3 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Aboard a comfortable custom vessel, refitted for educational cruises, voyage through the back waters of the California Delta and learn about the region’s cultural and natural history. From the Napa River to the historic city of Napa, through the Carquinez Strait, past Glen Cove, Port Costa, Benicia and into Suisun Marsh experience a treasure trove of human history and abundant bird life with a highly regarded naturalist.

Highlights

• Follow in the wake of early pioneers as you view much of their early infrastructure and learn about the early development of California.
• Discover the WWII history of the Napa River and the Suisun Bay from Mare Island to the Ready Reserve (“Mothball”) Fleet.
• Enjoy the remote backwater habitats dominated by red-tailed hawks, egrets and diverse plant species.

Activity Notes

Walking up to four blocks over flat walkways with some gravel to and from boat docks. Climb a few stairs to enter boat.

Coordinated by Road Scholar.
