Road Scholar
Program #11154RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Experience the passion for living born of Italy’s rich history, culture, architecture, art, foods, wines, peoples, and places. Sample Italian wines as you drink in the glorious ambiance of Rome, Florence, Venice, and more. During a field trip to the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, explore a palace echoing the grace and grandeur of Florence’s Uffizi Gallery, housing an extraordinary collection of masterpieces including a cast of Michelangelo’s magnificent “David” sculpture. Survey Italian civilization from literature to the science of DaVinci, the philosophy of Machiavelli, all the way to Italian-American pop singers. Special highlights include a live performance of Italian classical music and a traditional Italian meal. Buona salute!

Highlights

• Our art historian will bring her lectures to life with a field trip to Sarasota’s renowned Ringling Museum of Art’s 21 galleries of European paintings
• Our science expert shows how Florence-born Leonardo da Vinci is best known for his painting but was an inventor way ahead of his time who influenced the imaginations of many other Italian inventors.
• Enjoy live performances of choral and instrumental Italian music and learn about Italian American singers such as Frank Sinatra, Connie Francis and Perry Como while listening to their music.
