Road Scholar
Program #9631RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderately Challenging
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Alongside registered Maine guides go kayaking in wide, stable, tandem kayaks on the ocean among picturesque uninhabited islands and hiking along astounding coastal trails with views of the Canadian Maritimes. Then learn about the largest mammals in the world, whale watching aboard an historic sailing schooner. Explore a famous candy-striped lighthouse at the eastern edge of the continental U.S., join a naturalist-led hike in a bog, and, of course, enjoy a lobster feast.

Highlights

• Paddle in pristine waters on the edge of Passamaquoddy Bay within the Bay of Fundy.
• Small kayaking and hiking groups create intimate camaraderie and allow for plenty of time with your instructors.
• Explore FDR's summer cottage on Campobello Island and lighthouses, and go whale watching board the schooner “Ada C. Lore.”

Activity Notes

Hiking on uneven, rocky terrain up to three miles; kayaking for three hours on two days; whale watching aboard a sailing schooner. All equipment provided.

Coordinated by Washington County Community College.
