Program #5378RJ
7 Days | 6 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Set in the context of the shorebird migration, experience the natural beauty of Grand Manan at the pace of bygone times aboard a 56-foot pilot ketch during this exceptional whaling and birding adventure. Grand Manan’s Fundy Bay is one of the top ten whale watch destinations in the world, with sightings of basking sharks, dolphins and tuna possible, too. Spot a multitude of seabirds including phalaropes, shearwaters, petrels puffins and gannets, and experience the amazing Fundy tides from a floating slip.

Highlights

• Spend a day among such whales as Finback, Humpback, Minke, the rare North Atlantic Right Whale and their calves.
• Take a ferry trip to White Head Island where J.J. Audubon spent time collecting birds in 1833.
• View fishing weirs and salmon cages and visit a small whale and seabird research station.

Program Notes

So you can get the most out of your experience, all of our birding programs have a maximum participant-to-instructor ratio of 14:1. Road Scholar birding programs are conducted in accordance with the American Birding Association’s Code of Ethics. Learn more at http://www.aba.org/about/ethics.html

Activity Notes
