Immerse yourself in an intensive digital exploration of the natural world of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This course is designed for nature photographers that want to move beyond point-and-shoot and all-automatic settings of their SLR cameras. Explore the potential of modern digital cameras in recording and interpreting the natural landscape with hands-on tips and critiques from experienced instructors.


• Explore the art of nature photography with daily field walks and photo assignments, with instruction primarily in the field.
• The Allens Park and the Pingree Park valleys sit on the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park and Roosevelt National Forest with amazing photo opportunities and scenery.
• Wildlife abounds in the area including deer, elk and other birds and smaller animals.

Program Notes

Bring digital SLR camera, lenses, tripod, accessories. Laptop with current photo processing software.

Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.

Activity Notes

Hiking with camera gear up to three miles at elevations of 8,000-12,000 feet. Hiking will be the mode of travel to access many of the photo locations.

Date Notes
This Program date will take place at a retreat center in Allens Park. Daily excursions by van will take photographers into Rocky Mountain National Park with photo opportunities for lakes, water falls, mountain vistas and wildlife. 8/21/2016
This Program date will take place at the Colorado State University Mountain Campus at Pingree Park. From this base extended walks will bring photographers to beautiful mountain scenery, creeks, and wildlife opportunities.
