ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderately Challenging
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Deep in the heart of the backcountry, accompanied by just your horse and a small band of intrepid adventurers, marvel at the lakes, forests and flower-filled meadows of the Sierra Nevada range. Ride the rugged trails of this unblemished natural treasure on horseback as you imbue your own spirit with the peace and tranquility of the John Muir Wilderness. Learn about the Eastern Sierra’s human history and look for Basque carvings on Ponderosa Pines.

• Experience the rugged grandeur of the strikingly beautiful and remote John Muir Wilderness on horseback, guided by high Sierra wranglers.
• Enjoy insider perspectives of the history, culture and fascinating tales of this intriguing mountain wilderness shared by expert guides/leaders.
• In the serene mountain setting under a canopy of stars, enjoy an evening of toe-tapping fiddle music around the campfire with your fellow riders.
Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.

Activity Notes

Horseback riding 3-5 miles a day, some experience preferred. Some easy hiking. Elevations of 11,000 feet.
