Program #19390RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
In San Diego, discover native, colonial, national and local histories and observe the ways in which they have converged to create this multicultural city with a reputation for excellence in the arts.

• With a retired professor in Old Town State Park and a docent at Mission San Diego de Alcala, the first Franciscan mission founded by Father Junipero Serra, learn about what and whom European explorers met when they landed in California.
• View fine and folk art in the museums of Balboa Park and an historic, beautifully restored theater in the famous Gaslamp Quarter.
• Meet faculty, students and chefs from San Diego State University for a survey of the city’s fine arts, a music performance and a tasting of new culinary trends.

Activity Notes

Walking up to one mile, mostly flat terrain, some inclines. USS Midway docent tour involves climbing stairs and climbing through hatches in bulkheads. A few steps at the Mission San Diego de Alcala. Docent tour of Salk Institute involves climbing and descending stone stairs with no handrails.
