Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Discover Ontario’s historic waterways from Canada’s capital, Ottawa, and on to the Rideau Canal, Lake Ontario and the Thousand Islands. Alongside experts on walks and study cruises, discover the fascinating history of locks still opened and closed by hand and examine close-up this engineering masterpiece, and discover the Golden Era “cottages” of the Thousand Islands. In Kingston, Canada’s first capital, explore and learn about Fort Henry, the largest fortification west of Quebec City, and Bellevue House, the home of Canada’s first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald.

Highlights

• Journey along the Rideau Canal, the oldest continuously operated canal system in North America and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as you learn of its importance in creating safe passage to Ottawa.
• Cruise the beautiful Thousand Islands, a World Biosphere Reserve, with a stop at historic Boldt Castle.
• Enjoy Traditional High Tea at the estate of Mackenzie King, Canada’s 10th and longest-standing Prime Minister.

Activity Notes

Walking up to two miles; some uneven terrain, stairs, boarding and disembarking boats.
