Program #6913RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Enjoy the seasonal delights of New York City amid the festive store windows of Fifth Avenue, and get a glimpse of the holiday celebrations of the fabulously wealthy at the grand country mansions on the Hudson River. Enhance the spirit of the season with performances and analysis of the sacred and secular music of Christmas.

• An architectural historian who grew up on the Astor estate presents slides and lectures on the mansions of the Hudson River and leads narrated visits to these historic homes decked out for the holidays.
• Explore the famed collection at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, with audio technology provided to enhance your experience.
• Enjoy a live performance of “The Nutcracker” at Lincoln Center, as well as “The Christmas Spectacular” at the Radio City Music Hall.

Program Notes

This is a program that travels by comfortable, lavatory-equipped coach over two days to five historic houses and mansions located in the southern and central sections of New York’s Hudson Valley, as well as to New York City over two days. The program is based in Warwick, which is located towards the valley’s southern end. Distances traveled each day range from 45 to 80 miles, one-way. We make every effort to allow time to explore each mansion throughout the program; please be aware that time on the bus is crucial in getting you from place to place. In New York City, participants have several hours on their own and two lunches and two dinners on their own. The team at the Warwick Conference Center will prepare the group in advance for exploring the city, providing independent walking tour handouts with maps and a list of possible Manhattan eateries.

Activity Notes

Walking up to two miles. Standing for more than one hour and climbing stairs during visits to Hudson Valley Mansions.

Coordinated by The Warwick Center.
