Road Scholar
Program #13795RJ
4 Days | 3 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Discover what gives Richmond its richly storied character, from its beginnings as a 1600s trading post through Colonial days, the Revolution, and the Civil War to its current status as a New South city. Explore magnificent gardens, grand boulevards, and gracious architecture.

Highlights

• Explore the White House, where the Jefferson Davis family lived during the Civil War, and the Capitol, where the Confederate government met.
• Enjoy collections that range from ancient to Asian, and decorative to modern, at the recently expanded Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
• Imagine life at two unique houses: Maymont, an elegant Gilded Age estate, and the Maggie Walker National Park Site, home of the first woman banker.

Activity Notes

Walking approximately a mile over uneven historic city terrain.

Coordinated by Virginia Commonwealth University.
