Program #21180RJ
12 Days | 11 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Nearly fifteen thousand years ago, the last of the great glaciers retreated, leaving us with the legacy of the Great Lakes. Although they are called lakes, they are in reality vast inland seas that comprise one-fifth of the world’s fresh surface water. Our voyage explores the best of the Great Lakes as we discover natural, historical and cultural treasures along a sweeping route framed by two great American cities – Buffalo and Duluth – each of which is undergoing a renaissance of their own.

Highlights

• Experience four Great Lakes and visit Niagara Falls, one of North America’s most spectacular wonders.
• Discover beautiful Mackinac Island, a Victorian-era haven where cars are forbidden and bicycles share the road with horse-drawn carriages.
• Explore the energetic metropolis of Minneapolis on an expert-led city excursion.

Activity Notes

All excursions involve a fair amount of standing and quite a bit of walking - often over rough ground and sometimes uphill. Mobility is essential, as small boats and tenders are sometimes used for disembarkation and re-embarkation. There is no elevator on the ship.
