Road Scholar
Program #10463RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Relax and learn by the rugged shore of Lake Superior. Meet people living in and around historic Cook County who exhibit a wealth of knowledge and talent. Spend a day in nearby Grand Marais, walk in Judge C. Magney State Park and enjoy naturalist-led sessions on the geology, plants and animals of the region. Complement your academic pursuits with daily tai chi and yoga, and conclude your week with a lively performance by a local folk band.

Highlights

• As you explore Lake Superior, stay at the historic Naniboujou Lodge at a time when it is open to Road Scholar participants only.
• On a field trip to Grand Marais, seat of Cook County, visit North House Folk School, the Cook County Historical Museum, an art gallery and a local café for lunch.
• Enhance your physical and mental wellness with daily, easy-to-learn sessions of tai chi and yoga.

Activity Notes

Range of ability levels welcome. Walk up to four miles on moderate and some rugged trails, beach, sidewalks on field trip. Shorter walking options available.

Coordinated by Vermilion Community College.
