Program #21045RJ
5 Days | 4 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Program intended for grandchildren from 12 - 16 years of age.

Share the beauty of the outdoors — and the fun of canoeing — with your grandchild during this nature-filled adventure in Pennsylvania’s beautiful Lancaster County. Under the leadership of outdoor education specialists, paddle along the tranquil waters of the lake at Muddy Run Park and go exploring along the Susquehanna River. Wade in the knee-deep water of Octoraro Creek to learn about the aquatic critters that live there, take an evening hike with a naturalist and enjoy free time for swimming, archery and zip-lining.

Highlights

• Search for wildlife at Muddy Run Park as you canoe along the lake with tips on paddling and canoe safety from expert instructors.
• Paddle along the picturesque Susquehanna River in search of mysterious petroglyphs.
• Share in the fun and challenge of a low-ropes course, followed by an evening campfire and s’mores.

Activity Notes

Walking on uneven terrain; carrying canoes; canoeing for several hours per day.

Coordinated by Black Rock Retreat Center.
