EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Revisit those heady musical years of post-WWI economic recovery, social redefinition and cultural effervescence that literary types like Fitzgerald called “The Jazz Age”. Our 24th annual OFAM reflects on those rich threads of American popular culture, starting with 1921 when Eubie Blake-Noble Sissle’s revue Shuffle Along opened on Broadway through 1934, when Cole Porter’s paean to the age, Anything Goes did so! In between lies early Ellington, Cab Calloway and the Cotton Club; vocal stylists such as Al Jolson, Mildred Bailey, Eddie Cantor, Ruth Etting, Ethel Waters, Cliff Edwards; the rise of musical comedy; the shaping of popular song and dance by jazz, swing and the blues; and unrivaled songwriting craftsmanship in the hands of Rodgers & Hart, the Gershwins, Berlin, and Porter. Join top guest musicians at 5 concerts in our return to the Jazz Age’s clubs, radio shows, and stages.

• The program includes B-level seats at five festival concerts: the Opening Gala and Finale Concerts, a Jazz cabaret, and your choice of two matinee concerts.
• Guest artist presentations, a behind the scenes rehearsal, and period films add depth and historical context.
• A visit to the University of Oregon’s Natural History or Art museums lets you see the changing exhibitions and lovely campus.

Program Notes
