Under the guidance of experienced teachers, improve your quilting skills and learn the history of this beloved craft while working on a project alongside fellow quilters. Whether you are a novice or an experienced quilter, you will benefit from expert instruction and enjoy nightly presentations on a variety of related topics, hands-on sewing demonstrations, tips for keeping yourself healthy while quilting, visit local quilt shops and learn about the area, and enjoy sumptuous cuisine prepared by a noted chef.


• Visit local quilt shops and enjoy a picnic in a park en route through the Snake River Plain.
• Take in presentations on the history of quilts, how quilt blocks got their names and more.
• Participants receive fabric kits and work in the peaceful atmosphere of a monastery guest house.
Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.

Activity Notes

Minimal walking and standing on this program. All outings are optional.

Date Notes
In this week’s program participants will work on their quilting skills by developing a free-form wall quilt that tells a story or portrays a personal image. Special attention will be devoted to selecting appropriate scenes, choosing fabrics and utilizing various means of hand and machine quilting of the images, using fusibles, and primitive quilting.7/18/2016
In this week’s program participants will work on their quilting skills as they make curved blocks and/or eight-pointed starts to create their own unique quilt. There will be presentations with examples regarding curved piercing and the Ohio Star. Evening programs will discuss how Quilt Blocks got their names and Quilts of Valor.
