Program #13844RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Program intended for grandchildren from 10 - 13 years of age.

Take to the air and experience the magic of flight with your grandchild! Step inside the largest plane ever built, Howard Hughes’s Spruce Goose. Uncover the secrets of flight as you and your grandchild “fly” in flight simulators, build model planes and rockets, and observe soaring and swooping birds at Cape Meares Lighthouse and along the Oregon Coast. Join an aviation expert at great aviation museums, and get up close to one of the largest collections of WWII fighter planes, helicopters and blimps in the country.

Highlights

• Sit side by side with your grandchild in a piloted glider ride over the beautiful Hood River Valley and Columbia River.
• Together with your granchild, lift off and view the Chehalem Valley in a small helicopter and launch a model rocket you have assembled.
• Enjoy the Evergreen Air and Space Museum’s Waterpark with 10 water slides, a wave pool and a museum teaching about the power of water.

Activity Notes

Walking up to two miles, standing at museums, some stairs. Plan to keep up with your grandchild in fun packed days.

Coordinated by Tilikum Retreat Center.
