ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Go beyond the mere facts and statistics of the Battle of Gettysburg on a learning adventure that turns back the clock and provides an in-depth understanding of what the conflict meant for the officers, enlisted men and civilians caught in its midst. Take part in scholarly discussions of the generals and commanders for the Union and Confederacy and meet General and Mrs. Robert E. Lee in a living-history presentation. Read and analyze literature from the period, examine the clothing and equipment of a Civil War soldier, dine in the center of the famous “Gettysburg Cyclorama” and much more.

• Learn from Gettysburg experts how Union and Confederate commanding officers devised and deployed their battle strategies, and talk with costumed living-history actors portraying General Robert E. Lee and his wife Mary.
• Experience the Gettysburg National Military Park and Museum, explore sites related to each day of the battle and hear a scholarly lecture over dinner inside 19th-century artist Paul Philippoteaux’s “Gettysburg Cyclorama,” depicting Pickett’s Charge in 360-degree detail.
• Imagine yourself an enlisted man dressed and equipped for the battle during an examination of a typical soldier’s uniform and gear from the period.
