Road Scholar
Program #6858RJ
7 Days | 6 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Santa Fe is a magical place during the winter holidays. The different cultures of northern New Mexico mark this time in their own fashion: colorful Pueblo Indian dances and feast days, Hispanic festivities such as the display of luminarias and farolitos (small paper lanterns), and more. Experience a mosaic of exciting traditions that mark Christmas and the beginning of winter.

Highlights

• Experience the foods, music and ceremonies that Native American and Hispanic cultures used to commemorate the holidays.
• Experience the unique Christmas celebrations that blend the traditional beliefs of the Pueblo people and those of the Spanish colonists.
• Learn to prepare delicious Southwestern cuisine during a class at a local cooking school, then, as a group, enjoy the completed meal.

Activity Notes

Walking up to two miles per day over uneven, unpaved surfaces. Some stairs. Standing for up to two hours during Native American dances. Elevations of 7,000 feet.
